If you're inviting co-workers/bosses...

If you're inviting co-workers/bosses...

are you also supposed to invite them to bring their husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend etc??

I went to one wedding where my friend invited people from work without thier significant others... and anothere where they were invited too.

I could afford to invite my co-workers, but I don't think I can afford them with a guest.

I'm not sure what is the right way to do this sort of thing ans I'm just curious since I'm coming up with a guest list.

if u invite a bunch of people from work, you dont have to invite them with a guest- you can have a table thats all work people and I think thats okay. But it might get tricky if they are married....

All of my coworkers are married and I'm inviting their spouses. This is JMO, but I think it's only right to invite their husbands/wives. If I was invited to a wedding alone, I'd have to admit that I would probably decline.

I am having this same dilema.. most of my co-workers are married. But i have like 20.. so i cant afford to invite them all with a guest. So i was thinking of not inviting any. Or secretly inviting my favorites lol.

Hey Jenn! T & I have this discussion all the time... I say only invite those from work that you REALLY want there. And only have them bring a guest if they are married or have a significant other. HTH!

If they are married/engaged than I think you have to invite their spouses. I know I'd be kind of peeved if FH got invited to a co-workers wedding without me.

Since my wedding and reception are social events, I am inviting only those co-workers with whom I socialize outside of work. And also my boss. I was told that not inviting your direct boss (and his/her spouse) would be career suicide. So in my case, that's a total of 5 people from work plus their guests - which is 10 in total (one table)!

You're probably right. I'm going to figure by the time the invites go out anyone who isn't married or engaged won't be invited to bring a guest along.

Everyone is always so split on this topic!

i definitely understand where you're coming from, but i do agree with some of the other brides that i would be pissed if FH were invited to a wedding w/o me. He on the other hand would care less if he wasn't invited to one of my coworkers weddings! lol, maybe its a female thing! I would also suggest to invite only your favorites but anyway u look at it, it's a hard choice. i still haven't decided what i'll be doing in this situation.

I might just invite a select few with a handful of people and tell them to keep their invite on thr down low. I'm wasn't planing on inviting the whole office, I'm going tojust pick theones I get along with & socialize with the most, and if they have a fiance or husband/wife they can come too. I'm going to put one table aside (maybe 2 tops) for co-workers.

I only invited my boss. I didnt want to hurt feelings and invite this one and not that one, etc.

If you are inviting your boss, then you should invite their significant other as well.

However, I think many people flub this one up because they pick and choose who they invite from their office. I feel like as far as office invites are concerned (in general), you should invite all or none--NOT 'I like this person, so I'll invite them...but I don't like this person, so tough.' It's easy to say that, but in the end it makes life a little more difficult because it has a tendency to effect the workplace when it's done like that.

I was having the same problem. I wanted to invite my coworkers but I know there are to many to add to my guestlist so Im not going to invite any, if i was I would definitely invite them with a guest. I just think anyone over the age of 21 should be invited with a guest whether or not you know they have a significant other. I dont think you can invite people without guests, i know I would decline if it was me but thats just my opinion though

Yeah, in my experience you don't invite married people alone, unless it's a less formal, daytime affair, perhaps, that is truly small.

I only invited like 5 of my coworkers who I see on daily basis, probably see more than anyone else in my life.

I am allowing them to bring their guests. My 2 boses are both bringing their 5 year olds.

Thats okay with me, daytime casual wedding and I know they will gift well since they are my bosses.

I agree- unless it is a group that has the tendancy to hang outside of work without sig others...
