If you're not going to the wedding, what's an appropriate amount to spend on a gift?

This is my FI's first cousin, but they're not close at all.

Since you're not going, maybe a $50 gift would be okay...only since it's not a close relation

We were in the same situation last year. We have them $100.

I also think 100 would be fine.

I KNOW I am odd man out - but I also don't believe in covering your plate I give what I can afford. I personal give what I would give it I attended the wedding - I don't like to penalize the couple because my money or schedule didn't allow me to attend - so I give the same regardless - But that is just me - and I know I am odd man out in this case - Since it is a cousin I would give what I could afford and would like to give

I would think 50 - 100 is also fine, you arent close with them and you arent attending the wedding, when we got married, I had alot of relatives out of state that couldnt make it, but they sent gifts..some sent money ( 50 -100) and some sent gifts off of our registry, we LOved it ALL, a gift is something that you dont already have..so send what you can and dont stress it, they will be thankful to have it!!!

I'd give at least $100 (if you can) or buy gifts around that amount.
I don't think you have to cover your plate but I think it should be a nice gift since your FI is related

I would give $100 - or buy them something off their registry.
