The other day me and FH went to IKEA and found a few things we liked.....didnt have room in the car for a table we wanted so we ordered it online. We got an email the next day confirming the order and the total was $188.94. ok fine. of course me and my mom went there yesterday for other stuff and figured.....its already being shipped so we'll leave it as is.
Here is the e-mail i get today
Order Number: 747702xxx > Order Reference Number: EOI74537xxxx > Your merchandise will be held for you for 48 hours. If we do not receive a response from you confirming your order, your e-Shop order will be canceled. Your credit card will not be charged until the following charges are confirmed: > > Subtotal: $188.94 > Shipping & Handling: $257.12 > Tax: $39.03 > Order Total: $485.09
ummm do you see how much SHIPPING IS???? it come out to over twice the amount for what i was buying!!
I obviously called to cancel and they said it is a FLAT RATE shipping fee for WHATEVER is ordered.
Neddless to say...back to IKEA AGAIN ( hour drive) to get this stupid stuff

Re: IKEA ughhhhhhh
This happened to us too. We ordered a bookshelf that was finally in stock then found out it would cost more than the shelf itself to ship it. I don't get it!!!!

Same thing happened to us! So we schlepped out there and battled the crowds.

I'm experiencing it now. Since I'm moving in 2 Weeks I'm trying to 'preorder' all my furniture so its at my new place when I arrive, however shipping is ridiculous and they won't ship to the store!!!

Re: IKEA ughhhhhhh
I had such a bad experience with Ikea. We bought an entertainment center that came in 4 boxes (but we didn't know that). So we got home (upstate) and realized we were missing pieces. So we went down again and asked them to show us which boxes to get-well we get home they gave us 2 of the same boxes. We did this 3 times until we got the right ones!

Re: IKEA ughhhhhhh
i know it sounds wrong but that's how Ikea keeps its prices for merchandise very low....it is suppoed to be a do it yourself type of place otherwise they would start charging more money for their furniture
