I'm a guest at a wedding dilemma

OK, here is the deal. a good friend from high school is getting married. have not seen this person in about 3 years, but still care about, etc. so i sent in my reply with a yes, but the wedding is like 5 hours away. so today, i get another invitation from another friend that means sooooo much to me, but this wedding cam eout of nowhere...but going to this wedding means soooo much to me. this friend has been through so much and i am deleriously happy for her. plus the wedding is local. i love both these people, but the second friend is someone that i feel i should be at her wedding. what do i do or say???

I know this sucks but I would probably go to the second wedding.

I would call the one with the wedding far away ASAP and make up some BS something so she won't feel slighted and then send a big gift out right away.

This happened to my FH with his friend in WI - we had to call & explain that we were invited to a wedding on a later date & it was 'family' so there was no getting out of it. The bride of the wedding we went to was actually my childhood friend from 2 years old on but we felt the family bit would soften it & the other couple was FINE with it. The bride was actually relieved b/c she was trying to bring her numbers down - so it was a bitter sweet solution! These things do happen, better that you call then not show up at all.

Go to the second wedding - you'll regret not going & you def. won't regret missing the first one 5hrs away.

I would go to the second wedding. Call the bride from the first wedding and tell her that when you replied you didn't realize you had another obligation that weekend that you can't get out of! And then send a gift!

I'd tell a little white lie and say it was the 'family' thing too, soften the blow, no need to tell about it being 'another, better so to speak friend' and then like somone said....send a nice gift...

Tell her right away. But, to be honest, she will probably know that you are making something up if you tell a tall tale. So, try to keep it as close to the truth as you can.

Personally, my boss just waited until this week to tell me that she has to go to her cousin's wedding. It's been a 'maybe' for about a month. I would have MUCH preferred if she just said, 'No' from the beginning.
