I'm a little upset

I'm a little upset

My shower is on the 27th. FH does not have a lot of family.

His sister in law and niece who live in Boston cannot come because her kids are off of school that week and they had previous arrangements to go to Florida

His sister who also lives in Boston replied that she cannot make it to the shower

His aunt who lives in Maryland replied No

And heres the kicker, his mom hasn't even responded and the rsvp date is today

Now granted fh is not close with his family and they live oot but I feel really hurt ,and worse, I feel bad for my fh. He is so embaressed and disgusted by his mother, he understands about the other people but come on.

So other than my friends and family I will have his 100 year old grandmother, his godmother, and his 2nd cousin at my shower.

I know this is all silly to be upset over but I am just having a pity party for myself right now

I'm really sorry, Jess Your FMIL is not a reflection of your FH and he shouldn't feel bad about what she does (or doesn't do ) but I know its hard not to. I hope it all works out and you have the fab shower you deserve!

you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family....

At least he has you to start his own family with =)

I know how you feel. A lot of times I've planned things for myself - most notably my 30th bday shin-dig at dave and busters in july - and no one came. I mean, like 2 people out of the 15 I invited came and one had to leave after 5 mins bc her MIL couldn't handle watching her crying grandson. But I have learned not to take it personally. I wish people would realize that it HURTS when they say no to something important like this, but they just don't.

Thanks guys.

It does suckk but I hurt for fh too. He said that his friends have always been his family b/c his real one was never there. The only family member he is close with is his dad and he lives in Florida.

I am so thankkful that my family has accepted him into their lives and atleast he can finally feel part of a real family.

Hey, they're the ones missing out right???????

i know how you feel, out of fh's entire family only two of his cousins came to my shower. His mom and a lot of his family are oot, his mom responded but most of them didn't. I knew a lot of them weren't going to come, but i thought they would at least respond. I was really appreciative of his two cousins that did come, and i had all of my friends and family there. Don't worry, you'll have so much fun that day and everyone there will be so happy for you!

You are allowed to be upset. You will have lots of other people there and maybe his mom will surprise you at the shower. I understand - FH's mom lives oot and his brother/SIL & new neice live in Boston too.

I'm sorry you are upset Jess! I totally understand and I would be feeling the same way. Hopefully his mom has been really busy and will call soon and say she's coming. Honestly she will look really bad if she doesn't come.

How exciting though....your shower is coming up!
