there's a timeline on LIW under account.....did you check it out...it lets you check off all the things as you do them. it should give you an idea of all teh things that need to be done

good luck!! i woudl never be able to pull that off

i would suggest that your next step be ordering invitations (if you haven't already).

no invitations = no guests

the timeline is a good idea for a checklist of things you need to do

I have already done the invitations. That and my venue was the first step. My RSVP date is the 25th so I've got that all covered

Thanks. I've looked at that but I feel like I need more help. FH says whatever we can do, we can do.. and that everything will fall into place. His hopes are always high, I'm the one who thinks things will never work out lol.. but I also want everything to be perfect, ya know?

Not sure if this will help or overwhelm you, but I found this list to be very helpful in organizing my own to-do list.

WEDDING TO-DO LIST

Just delete anything that doesn't apply to you (like we have no flowergirls or ring bearers) and add in anything that you need to (we're having a Jewish ceremony, so I deleted anything Church-related and replaced it with Jewish things).

This is a huge list of those things you won't remember to take on the day of the wedding, but you might wind up needing:
DAY-OF EMERGENCY KIT ITEMS

I LOVE this thread!!!! It's such great advice from brides who've already been there and know what's worth stressing over, and what's not! And it's all said with the best intentions....
TO THE '08ers WITH LOVE.....FROM THE '07'ers

Also, if you haven't done so already, get your dress, have FH get fitted for his tux & order them for the groomsmen, have your BMs get their dresses, start gathering your Play & Do Not Play music lists for your DJ or band, type up info & create layouts if you're having programs, and decide what you want said at your ceremony (vows, poems, readings, etc).

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but hope this helps!!!

Oh, except this...... allow for little extras that come up unexpectedly and cost $$, including tips for vendors.

I'm planning in 3-4 months too! I still have a million things to do also (or at least it feels like it). Don't stress. If things that you want to do don't get done, no one will notice! I'm glad to see there is someone else as crazy as I am on here!

I think you can do it!!!
I say delegate like crazy -- your FH, family, friends, and BP will REALLY have to chip in.
You might also want to skip DYI projects especially if you work long hours.

Good Luck!!!

Hi date twin!
You're right -- most people probably won't even notice half the crap I obsess over on a daily basis

I did it...somehow! On a Saturday in the Hamptons.
Do the dress shopping asap----RK may be your best bet, they have samples in sizes you would not expect. David's could be a second option.
I would be really laid back on the BP....if you can have them wear something that is easy to get...maybe do a plain dress with matching shawls.
Prioritize what will keep you feeling good. Stuff like bras, shoes, hair seems like a big deal, so take care of it when you can.
Don't go to high on your minnimum, I was really under because the notice was short.
Use the web, order on line when you have to.
In some cases diy maybe be easier than ordering stuff.
Don't let vendors shame you about the timeline. If they start giving you a hard time move on.
Travel plans for OOT guests should be hi on your list.
Let's face it, a lot of the weddings on here have a lot of detail.
Just pick a few things that will be your signature....don't sweat what you don't have.
Keep a light attitude about it, you will be a-ok.DH says he is glad we did it this way.

Thanks so much for the tips! I will def check the links out. I've already gotten my dress and went for my first fitting yesterday. BM dresses are already finished except for one girl (still waiting on alterations), FH and groomsmen did tux's. Still choosing music for DJ and haven't done anything for the ceremony yet but we're getting there! I didn't realize there was so much to do. Ughhh!

Thanks, I really hope so. It just feels VERY overwhelming but I have confidence it will all work out in the end. FH really doesn't help much which *****. I understand guys aren't too into this stuff anyway but it is the biggest day in your life, I would expect you to have some say in it. Damnit why must men be so blah? lol

I've really put together a majority of this wedding in a short period of time and I am lucky the way it is turning out. I've already got my dress and went for my fitting yesterday and the girls already have their dresses as well. OOT guests have their plane tickets and everything, also because FH's father and one of his groomsmen live in Georgia. I've noticed that alot of weddings on here do have alot of detail and some went extremely overboard. Not in a bad way.. It is something I would have loved to do but definately needed alot more time to plan it out.. but I guess I just have to do whatever I can and listen to my fiance. As long as we love eachother and are celebrating the most important day of our lives with the people we love and care about then we really have nothing to worry about. Not all weddings have to be $50,000 right???

So how long did you actually plan before you got married? And how did everything turn out??

I bet you have more done than you think... it sounds like that to me.

Also, any Martha Stewart Wedding magazine has a fantastic checklist in it... it breaks everything down. Also, Weddings for Dummies has lists of things to do that you might forget.

HTH!

We got engaged on St. Patricks day....we really started planning in early May. Everything turned out great...but I did get pretty stressed the month before.
The short notice was hard with the RSVP's....I was under my minnimum, and in the end I couldn't do much about it.
My photos are up in my album, everything looked beautiful, we had an amazing time. It was certainly a simple, informal event by LIW standards, but I was really happy with it.
I diy'ed the flowers and decor for under $200.
I even found favors the day before!

Good luck!

How did you DIY the flowers and decor? Do you have more pictures? I'm dying to do that, but can't seem to get started.

I also DIYed invites (pics in album). Everyone loved them.

I'm so glad that it's not just me on here who did this!

It sounds like you have LOTS done. At first I totally got nervous on LIW because I'd see 09 brides that have way more done than me. Slowly, I caught up. I'm still behind most of my date twins, but we'll be fine. I don't think that our wedding will have any less detail than anyone else's. I just don't have the time to second guess myself (which is great for me).

We booked most of our vendors in just a couple of days. We picked out tuxedos yesterday (FINALLY!). Today I'm going to do some more flower research because I'd like to DIY at least part of it. I still have to find a make-up artist & seamstress for my dress (I got it at David's after shopping for 3 hours total), and have my trials.

I'm just not that worried (most of the time ).
