I'm becoming bridezilla....

I'm becoming bridezilla....

I feel kinda guilty- FSIL and one of the groomsmen are really good friends, and we were all talking about the wedding, and they were like, 'you're going to seat us together at the reception, right?' keep in mind they are just friends and each has a 'significant other'. I responded, 'no, the girls and their dates and guys and theirs are at two seperate tables- you'll be about 5 feet from each other.'

They gave me a really hard time about not being seated together, and it annoyed me- it's a year away and they're already stressing about this! I snapped back, ' Well, when you pay for your own plate, you can make those decisions!' I kind of regretted it- but am I off base? Should I seat people together if they really want or should I (politely) tell them that seating arrangements will be more difficult if I start honoring requests?

I think you should consider who will talk with each other the most. You want to put people with whom they get along with..etc.
You don't have to put all the girls and their dates at one table. It can be mixed.
I wouldn't open up a discussion for requests but just tell them you'll try to keep it in mind when doing the seating arrangement, and if you can seat them together. I know I hate it when I'm seated at a different table then say my cousin I'm really close with, and would prefer talking to through the night, then someone I barely know next to me.

I dont think you were completely wrong! Maybe what you said seems harsh but really people think that they can tell you what they want at your wedding. If it is pssible to do it-then why not? But at the same time, YOU are doing the seating chart and really being at 2 tables next to each toher is not a big deal.

Its what you want not your guests

maybe you came off a teeny bit harsh...but it happens! you're only human.

personally--i would want my BP and their dates together. that way they can all be comfortable. but it's something you have to figure out. but you've got plenty of time!

Personally I don't think it matters if you seat all the groomsman and their SO at one table and all the bridesmaids and their SO together... who would know the difference if you mixed it up.

but bottom line.. it's your choice... but sometimes you have to pick your battles. Although I wonder what your FSIL's SO will think about her throuwing a stink about not sitting with this guy.

yeah...I think I was a lil harsh...I just went to my best friend's wedding last month, and the seating charts were such a pain for her and she spent so long on them, and people had the nerve to complain about who they were sitting with! I just don't want it to be an issue and it bothers me that she was so insistant about someone who is just a friend. I'll give in, I guess. Thanks ladies

Hehe... I'm sure it is frustrating when people just 'expect' things at your wedding and you don't have the time to plot out exactly how to let them down gently. You were taken by the moment and didn't sugar-coat what you were thinking, we all do it, don't worry!

Honestly, when you look back at your wedding 50 years from now, you probably won't even remember who sat with who. However, I think that that is one of the main things guests will always remember from your wedding. They'll remember how gorgeous you looked and who was at their table. I don't think you should make exceptions for everyone, but I do think you want your bridal party ( the people you love the most) sitting with who they will have the best time with. That's just my opinion...

on the other hand, it's your wedding and you have every right to call alllll the shots

I think everyone has a little bridezilla in them at one time or another...lol ALthough it is extremely difficult to honor requests, if it's only 1 or 2 I would consider...It really stinks to seat with people you don't connect with and if your guest is gonna have a better time, then made a little exception here and there....

I feel the same way. JMO
