Lance Armstrong & Sheryl Crow Split

February 3, 2006

In another shocking celebrity breakup, LANCE ARMSTRONG and SHERYL CROW have split, according to People magazine. The seven-time Tour de France bicycling champion and the rockstar musician got engaged in September 2005, when Armstrong proposed to Crow in Sun Valley, ID, not long after he retired from the pro circuit in July. He and Crow officially became an item back in early 2004.

'After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision to split up. We both have a deep love and respect for each other and we ask that everyone respect our privacy during this very difficult time,' a joint statement released to People through Armstrong's spokesman read.

Armstrong, 33, has a son and two twin daughters from a previous marriage. Grammy winner Crow, 42, has previously been linked to ERIC CLAPTON, OWEN WILSON and KID ROCK.

The couple spoke to BARBARA WALTERS last November, when Armstrong was named one of Walters' 'Most Fascinating People.' While showing off her six-carat diamond engagement ring, the two talked about what drew them together.

'She's hot,' Lance said. 'I saw that!'

But Sheryl said she just knew he was the one. 'I think sometimes you meet people and they just strike such a familiar chord with you,' she said. 'I just thought I had known him forever.'

Lance also spoke to our KEVIN FRAZIER about his love for Crow in August 2005, saying, 'We plan on having a long future together.'

JEN DECLARES WAR ON BRAD & ANGELINA!

Jennifer Aniston
Brad Pitt was all bashful blushes and bubbling baby talk on Jan. 24, when he joined good friends Madonna and Guy Ritchie for a dinner party at London's trendiest Italian restaurant, Locanda Locatelli. Angelina Jolie wasn't there (she was back at Claridge's Hotel taking it easy with kids Maddox and Zahara), but she was clearly on Brad's mind as he gabbed about nannies with celeb chef Jamie Oliver and discussed Angelina's birth plans with Madonna. And when the party-goers made a special toast — with a $350- a-bottle Henri Giraud Grand Cru champagne! — 'to Angelina, Brad and the baby,' he couldn't have looked more thrilled. He even confided to the small crowd that, already, Angelina has given him everything he wants in life!

Meanwhile, half a world away, Jennifer Aniston, 36, was drinking, too, but sources say her mood was a lot less happy. In Park City, Utah, for the premiere of her latest film, the comedy Friends With Money, at the Sundance Film Festival, Brad's ex appeared brooding and tense as she attended parties and fielded questions about her new movie — and personal life — while trying to ignore obnoxious fans who taunted her with shouts of 'How's Brad and Angelina?' While Brad, 42, has happily moved on, Jen's friends say that the soon-to-be 37-year-old can't seem to forget her past. A full year after the split, and six months into her relationship with Vince Vaughn, 35, she can't seem to stop talking, thinking and asking everyone she knows about Brad and Angelina Jolie. The Aniston-Pitt battles have turned into an all-out war.

GUNFIRE AT BUSTA RHYMES VIDEO SHOOT

Busta Rhymes
Violence interrupted a video shoot for Busta Rhymes early Saturday in Brooklyn as the rapper's bodyguard was reportedly shot and killed. Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the gunfire that took the life of Israel Ramirez, 29. Rhymes, Missy Elliot and G-Unit members were filming on a soundstage where some 500 people were gathered.

Yawn, did you see the 'news' story about Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora busting up? Too sad, really. But too not-surprising--I had that being-apart-for-good dish back in November. The 17th, to be exact. Publicists denied, denied, denied. Whatever, it's what they're paid to do, right?

As I'm salaried to stir up the following...

Oh, merde, is Ben Affleck just going through his Michael Jackson period? You know the tiresome drill: Build 'em up, just so you can rip 'em right back down again!

'Course, Mr. J., who went on national television caressing the hand of a teenager whom Jackson said he had absolutely no compunction sharing a mattress with, asked for it. And then some.

Did Ben? Probably, just not as directly. I mean, remember when he was engaged to J.Lo and he ended up at those Canadian strip joints? How could you forget?

But then our Benny-boy calmed down and set up homey house with Jennifer Garner, of Alias fame. Aren't they too cute together? (Yeah, whatever.) But folks are wondering, Will they last?

(Unlike Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, about whom, quite frankly, more than a few connected peeps in this town are wondering if they're even going to really begin. But that's another column.)

Back to Ben and his latest reported Super Bowl-time meanderings...up in Canada, to be exact. Windsor, specifically.

The Windsor Star is reporting that there's a bit o' debate about whether or not Mr. A. has been frequenting take-it-almost-off establishments--again.

Other folks are telling moi the rehab-renewed Ben hit a local convenience store for a beer run.

Yet more Canadians are reporting my personal fave: on the local streets of Windsor (right next to Detroit), fast-*** driving by Affleck in a Dodge Viper. Pedal to the metal, man!

Gosh, wonder which of these randy reports is true?

Surely, Ben isn't tiring, already, of his cozy life for three with Jenster? Is being a new daddy making B.A. a bit antsy for his old hard-partying ways?

Well, this is where things start getting really interesting: According to Mr. A.'s big-time New Yawk press rep, his client Ben has not even been in Windsor or Detroit. This, despite newspaper reports and eyewitness accounts to the contrary.

'To be clear,' added Flak Affleck, 'nothing in that Windsor Star thing is true. He is in L.A.'

Okay, this is approaching Elvis mania. Why the hell is there such a sweep of Ben-sightings--is stripper haven Windsor, of all places--when, according to Camp Affleck, the gambling guy's been in Hell-Ay all along?

I don't know. How 'bout we end this where we began it? 'Cause for some reason, Heather's earlier insistence that her union was all peachy is coming to mind.

Is that too weird of me to recall right about now?

Tiff Two (as Promised!)
As I said last Friday, darlings, we're gonna revisit the whole bitchy behavior thing. Just once, though. I don't want us all comin' down with post-traumatic stress syndrome or anything. Deep breaths. Here we go!

Scene: Lobby Supper Club. WeHo. Black-and-white-hot interior. Old Hollywood meets bottles of Patrón. Très recently.

Squabble: Stavros Niarchos was on his own--as in, without Paris Hilton. She was in Vegas, see. He was chillin', doin' his partying thing when suddenly he got all bent outta shape. 'Paris called him and said that cops had found out he was in the club,' related my in-deep insider. 'She was freaking out and screaming and yelling at him to get the hell out of there. And she didn't know how the cops had found out.'

Weird, I know. Like, how did Paris know what the cops in L.A. were up to? And did she know at all? Obviously, it's very possible that she was just using her cell phone to lasso Stavi and keep him in check. Because let's face it, who wants their boy-toy hitting the clubs without his honey--especially when he's just finally gotten the perf haircut?

On top of that, Stavros-babe was sitting just a few millimeters away from, yep, you guessed it: Miss Mary-Kate Olsen. Ouch!

To make a long and odd story short, here's what went down. Stavi flipped out and beat feet outta that club, while M.-K. stayed inside, unafraid of the cops. And Paris, well I'm sure she was just fine in Vegas.

Snap Factor: I ain't saying that M.-K. made a little call to the cops. First of all, she ain't legal, either. And frankly, I don't think the gal would sink so low. But I bet everyone from here to Glendale could hear her purring as she watched her former flame rush to get his studly butt outta the club. Don't you think? (Of course you do.)

Okay, just so you don't think I only care (or hear) about bad behavior, let's switch gears and talk about those who are all grins and manners in this town.

Britney: 'I Love My Child'

Tuesday Feb 07, 2006 12:10am EST

CREDIT: X17

On Monday, photos surfaced of Britney Spears driving her SUV in Malibu with her son, Sean Preston, sitting on her lap behind the wheel. The pictures raised obvious questions because her young son was not in a car seat.

A source close to Spears explains that the singer drove to Starbucks with her bodyguard in the passenger seat and son Sean in his car seat in the back. When the bodyguard went into the store to get the drinks, Spears took Sean out of his car seat and held him in her lap while she waited. Photographers approached the car, says the source, and became aggressive. Once her bodyguard climbed back into the car, Spears drove away while still holding her son.

Spears explains her actions in an exclusive statement to People magazine:

'Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him.'

Kelly Clarkson and her boyfriend since July, Oklahoma-born rocker Graham Colton, have broken up, a rep for the pop star's record label confirms to PEOPLE.

'They remain good friends,' adds a source. 'They were even out together a week or so ago. But she's on the road, and he's in the studio, and there just isn't time to spend together.'

In December, PEOPLE reported that the summer romance was still generating heat between the American Idol champ, 23, and her 24-year-old beau, whose Graham Colton Band was the opening act for her Behind These Hazel Eyes Tour.

As both lived in Dallas, 'they have that Texas thing in common,' said a source close to the couple, who described the musicians as 'both very spiritual and mature for their ages' and theirs as 'a committed relationship.'

As quoted in the German magazine Bravo, Clarkson, who recently toured Europe, reportedly said of Colton: 'He will always be one of my best friends. I'm not sad, really, because our relationship made me believe in love again.'

She added: 'Graham is the coolest guy I've ever been with. Maybe one day we'll get back together – if we don't have to work so much anymore.'

Colton and his band previously opened for John Mayer, Maroon 5 and the Dave Matthews Band.

Grammy nominee Clarkson is due to perform at Wednesday's ceremony. Her multiplatinum album, Breakaway, which spawned four Top 10 hits, is up for female pop vocal performance ('Since U Been Gone') and best pop vocal album.

IMHO: Many women blame the 'other' woman....I don't understand why Angelina gets all the 'blame' and criticized as a home-wrecker....we don't know if she approached these men when they were 'taken' or they approached her.

I think the men should be getting a lot more blame for being the cheaters and disloyal to their pre-existing relationships.

I totally agree- and have said this my whole life- Brad was married to Jen- not Angelina- she doesn't owe Jen a thing- I still don't like her- but I blame Brad

February 7, 2006 -- Oh, baby! Britney Spears is taking her son's life in her hands.
The blond pop tart cruised down the Pacific Coast Highway yesterday in her SUV with 16-week-old Sean on her lap.

That's a no-no in California, whose law says kids 'must be secured in an appropriate child-passenger restraint [a safety or booster seat] until they are at least 6 years old or weigh at least 60 pounds.'

The picture is one of a series in which the background is clearly changing as, the photogragher says, Britney drives between Cross Creek and Los Flores — about two miles.

The photographer told The Post that he came upon Britney at a Starbucks in the Malibu area at 1 p.m.

'I noticed she had the baby in her lap,' he said. 'Next thing I know, she was driving south on the PCH . . . I'm not sure if she was wearing a seat belt . . . I was surprised. She looked very relaxed — like it was a normal thing to do.'

The singer's bodyguard was in the front passenger seat.

She is pitiful. I don't know what the heck she was thinking.

CONTROVERSY! IS SIMON TOO MEAN?

Simon Cowell
Given the level of nastiness on American Idol, Star asked resident grump Simon Cowell if the show should be renamed Angry Idol. True to form, Cowell, 46, responded: 'That's a good expression. We'll call it Angry Idol this year. And I don't mind the contestants being argumentative. I quite like it. I encourage it!'

SIMON'S IN FINE FORM
Any thoughts that Cowell — and Idol, by extension — might be kinder and gentler this season have been quickly dispelled, as Simon has already fired off these beauties to contestants:
'You're more Jerry Springer than American Idol.'
'You just murdered one of the most beautiful songs of all time!'
'You have one of the worst voices I've ever heard. It's almost nonhuman!'

Even last season's winner, Carrie Underwood, says of Simon: 'It was hard because, I knew at some point the horribly negative comments were coming.' But when is mean too mean? 'Simon could be direct without being so nasty, but it would probably lead to lower ratings,' says etiquette expert Peter Post. But New York Post TV critic and columnist Linda Stasi disagrees: 'Simon's not mean enough! It's what makes the show so much fun, or else it would be a big snore-bore. He's doing what the losers' parents should have done long ago — he's telling them the truth.' And comedian Jimmy Carr, host of Comedy Central's Distraction, adds: 'He's a one-man Gong Show. In fact, on the next season, I'd like to see him armed!'

She has issues. I mean, WHY ON EARTH is she a mother????

I think she is so trashy and he's no better!!! UGH!!!
