I'm brand-new

Hi all,

This is my first post on the LIW!!!

I was engaged to my best friend and soul-mate on April 8, at the River Café Brooklyn. Very very Romantic!!

We are tentatively set to get hitched on Sunday, Oct 9, 2005 pending approval by our Episcopalian priest. He may be unable to perform the ceremony due to Sunday service commitments. Unless he gets an assistant priest, he may be “too tired” to do a wedding on a Sunday. *fingers crossed*

We chose a holiday weekend Sunday for 2 reasons. Fiancé is from England, and his entire family (about 75 people) will be traveling to NY. It gives more time for travel. Also, we are both of Nigerian heritage, and we need the Saturday for our traditional Nigerian wedding.

I am very excited, but yet scared about the planning process. Since FILs live in the UK, they can’t help with the planning. I have just my mom to help (I have 3 big brothers, no sisters :(.
Also, I am graduating medical school in 4 weeks and will be starting my Internship in June. I am dreading the 36-hour calls already and trying to meet vendors running on Zero sleep!!! Also, FH will be expanding his business in June, meaning lots of travel for him.

I look forward to chatting and exchanging lots of ideas with you all.

Any advice for the newbie???

You two are a beautiful couple. I am new to this whole thing too but have learned so much from this website. I feel like being here gives you a crash course in bridal planning. Everyone here is so nice and helpful I felt right at home from the first day I posted. I am getting married the week after you! YEAH! October is a fabulous month to get married. Because of tips and suggestions from other brides here I already have my photographer and florist and I couldn't be happier. You are going to love it here. I sure do!
