I thought that at a shower you should get the things that you registered for like pots and stuff but my friends are telling me that I'm suppose to get like sexy things like panties and stuff like that.....so my question is, What is the expected gift at a bridal shower?

Your guests give you items that you have on your registry. Some will probably give you other gifts but for the most part the gifts will be from your registry. You are supposed to receive lingerie at your shower. I think that your MOH or bridal party usually give you lingerie.

in my experience you get both... every shower ive been to lingerie has been one of the gifts, but its impossible that every one is getting you lingerie... that would be silly! LOL

Most of the guests will get you stuff off your registry. However I have heard that instead of a wishing well, some bridal showers have a clothesline for lingerie, so guests buy a piece of lingerie instead of a wishing well gift.
My mom keeps telling me she can't wait to buy me lingerie......I don't know how I feel about that

the stuff you registered for at Macys, BBB, etc. are the gifts you will receive at your shower. on occasion your the bridal party will buy you some lingerie for your wedding night & honeymoon.
if you don't want them to, just tell them you would prefer if they didn't do that. that's what my cousin told us when we where in her bridal party so instead we gave her a card with a VS gift card so she can purchase what she wanted at her convenience.
i personally don't like the idea of other people picking out my lingerie or having my mom, FMIL or FHs grandmother seeing it. so i told my sister (MOH) that there is to be no lingerie at my shower. i threatened her because when its her turn i will be able to get her back.

i've been to showers where people get gifts from the registry but for the couples who dont have a registry its usually lingerie or other gifts....for my cousin's wedding we threw her a Lingerie Party...because it was a bridal shower/bachelorette combined and she didnt have a registry...

I haven't really been to many showers, but the ones that I have been to, most of the items are from the registry, and there are a couple of lingerie pieces.

At my sisters shower, she got 90% of the items from her registry. Some people, if they got her one main gift and wanted to throw a little something else in, got her some type of lingerie....she was really embarassed LOL

most buy from the registry, some dont, some buy little extras like lingerie in addition to registry items, and then theres also wishing wells and the lingerie clothesline thing

In my family, it's tradition for the mother of the bride to buy the wedding night lingerie as a gift for the shower. Other than that, it is stuff from your registry! I've also seen wishing wells for little knick knacks.
