Im cooking for mothers day

Im cooking for mothers day

FH was given a turkey as a bonus(multimillion dollar company and they give food-whatever). We were going to give it away, but instead we're going to make our mom's dinner tomorrow.

Any thoughts on some side dishes? Im definately making roasted potatoes, not sure about anything else. Also Ive never made a turkey, so if anyone could help that'd be great.

yup...very simiarl string bean casserole uses a can of cream of mushroom or chicken soup...

heres what i do...

I take frozen string beans and microwave them with a tiny bit of water for about 3 minutes or so. Then I put them in a big pan with a little olive oil and garlic. I sautee them and then add the breadcrumbs to the pan as well. I do this untilt hey are still a little crunchy but not too tough. So yummy and easy!

Re: Im cooking for mothers day

mashed sweet potatoes

Boil sweet potatoes with a cinnamon stick or some ground cinnamon

Mash with a little bit of milk or sour cream and cinnamon and sugar

Put into a baking dish and put brown sugar and mini marshmallows on top and bake until the marshmallows start to ooze a little.

That's one of my mother's day side dishes!

i recommend a green bean salad. its SOOOOO easy. literally take some green beans... marinade them in light italian dressing... and serve. its delicious.

FSIL is cooking at her house, so I don't have to cook. His family is very very italian, and his mom and his sister both make really good sauce, and after 4 years, I am still scared to cook anything italian.
