im down ** update

im down ** update

ugh ...

so we met with our real estate attorney this am to sign all of our disclosures and contract info to purchase our condo... come to find out that not only will be owe about 20k at closing ... there was also a fee of 8k for a 'premium lot' never disclosed to us. We also expected a 7,500 rebate at the time of closing which would dramatically lower our closing costs (from 20k - 13k) and that wasnt in the contract either. SO now we have to play the waiting game, for the lawyer to contact everyone and get everything straightened out...

just suckss, its such an arduous process - i hope it all works out, i felt my blood pressure and anxiety level rising, sitting there in the lawyer's office as he listed off item after item that we would have to pay off at closing

im hoping it all works out, and we can get all of the contracts figured out and signed away sooooon

update :: so my lawyer just called and apparently they 'lot premium' was just for book keeping purposes and it wasnt something that we needed to pay! Also, they are going to include 7,500 towards our closing costs - he is editing the contract and submitting it! Looks like everything is a go!!! phew

Yea closing costs are usually around $20,000 which they don't tell people when they are looking for a house. I hope everything works out for you and FH

right, well we knew it would be about 15k going in, but then the sales person told us that if we went with the builders mortgage company, we would get 7,500 towards closing costs, right off the top and we would pay the balance. Now it looks like they added to our contract a rebate for the 5k lot premium and 1% origination fee which was never discussed and nothing about the 7,500 towards closing. Im just hoping that they forgot to add it in the contract and it will be an easy addendum

Oh Karin! That sux! I've heard closing costs are ridiculous! Hopefully the lawyer can figure it all out!

Is the condo you're buying one of the new ones being built in Massapequa? I looked at your pictures and they looked like the ones by the mall, but I could be wrong!

Good luck!!!
