I'm feeling.... (a venting session is starting)

burnt out already. Well not really burnt out...but just not as into the planning as I thought I would be. I know a lot of people plan weddings in long island from farther locations than philadelphia but I just can't help but wish I was in long island right now. I don't want to dedicate entire weekends seeing receptions sites and going to other appts. I want to enjoy all this planning but I want to see my friends and family too while I am home. And I want to be able to go to at least one GTG!!!
I know once we set a date and find a location things will slow down...hopefully. And I'll be able to go home during the weekends this summer and just spend time with everyone and go to Jones beach (i'm a sucker for that place).

That all being said...Round 2 of reception site hunting starts 10am on Saturday!
And an upside...i pretty much know who I want for a photographer, videographer, and dj. If I could just find a ceremony and reception location!!

Hey, I hear ya!! I've been planning from Philly - it's *****!! Weekends spent cramming as much as you can with receptions, flowers, djs... gets a bit overwhelming... but it'll be worth it... I got the big stuff done and now can relax a bit, but it would be a hell of alot easier if we were in LI>>> that's why I'm moving back!!!

Don't let yourself get too overwhelmed with all of this (I know, easy for me to say). Just set some goals and limitations. For example, I refused to see more than 5 reception sites period. I figured the more I allowed myself to see the more confused I would get. I think you start to forget what you want when you see too many/too much. I narrowed the search down by
1. doing a lot of web searching
2. buying the 'Long Island Wedding Facility's' magazine and of course
3. picking the brains of the lovely LI Weddings brides.

I went with places that I knew where my style and fit into my budget. Recommendations are great if you can get some. NEVER see a place out of your budget. Waste of time and kills you if you love it and can't afford it.

In the end I only needed to see 3 halls.

You're ahead of the game if you know the smaller vendors you want to book. They can be more challenging bc there are sooo many of them.

i know how you feel, though me an FH live on the island b/c of our schedules we cant do anything except of the weekend. Hang in there, once you find your hall, things will fall in place especially if you already have photo, and video out of the way. I haven't even started with those vendors.

Hang in there! It will get easier. Once it is booked you can enjoy the beach !! Take it one day at a time.

I REALLY know how you feel I am in Chicago right now and don't plan on moving back to NY until next year. I will be home at the end of this month to catch up on the planning all I can say is pace yourself and I am sure everything will fall into place

Once you get your recption hall picked things should slow down

I definitely understand how you feel. Once you book the hall then things will start to slow down for you. I really don't know what I would have done without LIW.
