I'm getting kinda sad. . .

I'm getting kinda sad. . .

I was looking at some of your wedding dress pictures and thinking about how much stuff a lot of you have alreay done. And I'm thinking about how I am really doing everything on my own. I was even thinking I don't want anyone to even come dress shopping with me - I mean I always had this selflessness about me . . .
I feel like asking someone to come with me would be an imposition. Like it's something they don't want to do or have time to do or whatever. I know it sounds stupid.

Also. . .I get nervous b/c I really feel like there are people (those negative people we all know about) who will just make my dress shopping experience terrible! People who are just jealous or whatever.

Am I being silly? I dont know . . . I have just really done everything for myself for so long - it gets lonely sometimes.

I think we all get overwhelmed with the planning sometimes, but somehow, someway, it will all get done.

As for dress shopping, it's up to you what you're most comfortable with. For me, it helped to bring people (my mom and my sister) to keep me from getting too carried away and buying the first pretty dress that I saw! I'm sure anyone you asked would be thrilled and honored to share your dress shopping experience.

Hang in there!

i the same way with a lot of my wedding planning. sometimes i feel like my wedding and the general planning of it is an inconvenience to others. and then i feel bad even asking my BM's to set aside time to pick a dress that they'll probably dislike, never wear again, yet have to shell out money for.

anyway, i think your family and friends would be HONORED to look at wedding dresses with you! my MOH (who i'm less close with now than i used to be) was soooo excited to come look at wedding gowns. i know you feel like you're imposing on their lives, but i'm sure they're more than happy to join you in planning your most special day!

ETA: if i lived in NY i'd want to go dress shopping with you!!

Aww sweetie!!

I could have written this post myself. I am the first of my friends to be getting married, I've been with my boyfriend for over 6yrs, but all of my close friends have also been in long relationships. I feel like if I bring up anything wedding related, that it's like I'm pushing it in their face or something. I'm not that type at all, and they haven't said anything to make me feel that way at all, its just this wierd inner-thing I have going on. I'm the type of girl who feels bad asking my friends to come to the mall with me, or I won't try things on just so they don't have to wait. I wish I could get over this, but I can't!

If you need someone to come dress shopping - If I'm available I'll come!!

i know exaclly how you feel. I actually went dress shopping twice and each time i went alone. I didn't ask any of my friends to come because i feel like none of them are really into the wedding.
When i was trying on dresses i kinda wished i could share the experience with soemone but ohh well. And don't worry i don't have anything done except for booking my hall.

aww cheer up
I dont know about you but I would be sooooo excited and honored if someone asked me to go dress shopping with them! Im not sure if there are specific negative people that you are talking about but if they are then maybe you shoudl rethink who you want standing by you on such an important day, do you really want to be surrounded by negative people? and if theres no one specific that your talking about then I say go ahead and ask whoever you want to help you...whats the worst they can say, sorry Im busy? its worth a shot! and if ou even need/want to go dress shopping let me know I love to do it!

You shouldn't feel like you're imposing on people to go dress shopping with you. I would consider it an honor if I was asked to go dress shopping by a friend. There are definitely people out there who could put a damper on your dress shopping experience, but you should be able to pick those people out ahead of time. You shouldn't have to have such a wonderful experience alone, unless you really want to. If there's someone you would really like to accompany you, just ask.

Re: I'm getting kinda sad. . .

I understand how you feel, but I also think that you should def. ask them to go.

My BFF is also getting married, and I am in her BP. And she went and got her dress with a co-worker, and didn't even tell me she was going. Next thing I know, she sent me an email showing me the dress she had bought. I was really hurt that she didn't even consider asking me, and when I told her, she said she thought I wouldn't want to go.

So I guess my point is you might think you're being a burden to them, but I don't think you are. They might even be upset if you don't. ask them And if they truly care about you, they will want to go and be supportive of whatever decision you make on a dress.

Good luck!!

I understand.. i didn't know who to invite either.. I ended up just going with my mom and grandma.. and im sure some of my friends were upset... but I think you should only invite people that you TOTALLY WANT TO BE THERE and you know will make it 100% about you......
If you feel like some people won't make you comfortable.. don't ask them....
but at the same time.... don't make yourself go alone.. if you have the option of bringing someone....
It's all about you no matter what... TRUST ME.. you are going to look GORGEOUS
