I'm getting 'No's and invites have not been sent yet.

I wanted to mail the invites to some of my coworkers for a few reasons...
anyway I asked as many as I could for their addresses and the ones I was not too friendly with; I asked HR for the address.
HR asked each person for permission to give out their address and one person said more or less that not to bother mailing an invite b/c she will not be able to attend.
Somehow I'm not upset. Two less!
(I was just inviting her out of courtesy)

Why would you even bother inviting people you're not friendly with? Save the invite for someone who you care about and cares about you enough to celebrate the day for what it's about.

I get the office politics..We decided early on to each invite the one person we each socialize with outside and not invite anyone else. I have been asked but tell them we are keeping it small and the place we are using can't accomodate any more (all true...we got a midsized room...).

I also thought that we could both relax and enjoy ourselves without office people there...I like my two worlds seperate.

HAHAHA, my mom just told me yesterday that one of my cousins has 5 weddings to go to within the next year and she cant afford it so she is just not going to go to any of them. i was excited too!!! that was like 5 people down for me !

i had a similar situation ... except it was some family member on FH's side (not sure who exactly but he lives OOT and told them not to even bother sending an invite cause he's not coming) ... whatever, i was happy to remove him ... ESPECIALLY with that attitude!

I work in a very small office and yes, there is a lot of office politics.
When I say not 'friendly' I mean we don't hang out after work. We get along just fine during work and she helps out with my wedding questions.

I don't want to offend anyone so they're all invited -even though I know most will not attend.

I also wanted to add that since I know they're not coming, I didnt want to make it awkward for anyone,including myself, therefore I am mailing the invites so they can decline discreetly.

I actually have the opposite happening. Two cousins and an aunt who moved to FL are moving BACK to NY next year and I had totally counted them out (even though I was inviting them out of courtesy) but now they'll all be there! 6 people!!
