Im going on strike!

Im going on strike!

Ive had it. FH is becoming a slob. Now i realize house work will never be split 50/50 because as women we just care more. But lately FH is doing nothing to help me. I get home later then him from work, usually between 7:30 - 8 and nothing is ever done....
Fine. I can deal. But good god, the laundry piles up, the bed doesnt get made, the dishes pile in the sink. Im very neat and clean person and he used to be too, but lately he has gotten so bad!!!!

The only chore he has is to take the garbage out. Lately he just pulls the bag out and says 'this way we can fit more in it' (so he doesnt have to take it out), the other day i had to work late and asked him to change the sheets. It took him an hour and he put the dirty sheets in the washing machine and never turned it on. Can you get any more lazy?????

Ive decided to go on strike until he starts appreciating all the work i do around here....Does he think he clean underwear just magically appear????

I hear ya!!! Once you do something (a chore) then it's assumed that you'll be doing it forever! LOL
Stick to your guns girl! I've gone on strike before, but I just get frustrated and end up doing it myself...which is what he knows will happen...

Re: Im going on strike!

I just spoke to FH about this. I kept quiet for a long time and let him do his only chore, the dishes without saying anything. Until he called me (a few days after I was on my hands and feet cleaning the bathroom and doing the laundry) and said, 'This house smells cause of the dishes. You were home all morning' I blew my lid! I told him he hasnt been helping and I started listing everything I do, cause it seems like he FORGETS that the house doesnt clean itself. He apologized and when I got home from work in the morning, the house was neat

Re: Im going on strike!

the whole women do much more is not always true, i hate admitting this but FH does more

hmmm im trying to think of the best advice for him to change bc i am a bit more like the guy in this situation...i do clean and do things dont get me wrong lol, im just not OCD like FH so like this morning we just woke up, im exhausted and can barely see straight but meanwhile he started cleaning my room right away from the mess we made last night getting in late...him complaining about it doesn't help, if he would've kept his mouth shut and let me wake up a bit then i would've done it myself i just dont like having to do something right when someone wants it done, it makes me not want to do it...if someone says can you get up and do this NOW depending on how its said then no i cant get up and do it now, once they stop complaining and most likely when they arent around i'll do it. AND i hate saying this but its SOOOOOOO true and most likely the reason why guys do it, but hey if i know FH makes my bed the second we get into my house why should i bother doing it, or he cleans my bag out all the time, so when it gets messy im just like eh good thing he does it...its kind of like if you know the person will do it then why do it, but this depends on my mood, many times when we get to my house ill say just watch tv in the Living room while i cleanmy room bc he cant sit in a messy room and in themorning before work i make a mess.

Dont know if that advice helps but basically dont tell him to do it right then and there it makes a person not want to do it. And bascially dont do it if he doesn't do it bc then he'll continue not to do it, it'll s*ck for you at first bc you'll probably get annoyed waiting for him to do it but when he sees you wont do it for him then he'll do it himself

go on strike. I did this w/ FH because of the same reason (hated every second of it b/c it drove me crazy!) and he definitely got the point. Sometimes they forget how much work it is to maintain a house and take it for granted.

You just took the words right out of my mouth. My FH does the same thing with the garbage bag! I tried going on strike and he ended up buying new underwear and socks! How lazy! So then I just screamed at him and then ignored him for an hour and then he realized he was wrong! Don't let him get away with it! (I blame their mom's!)

my FH was the same way....i let the house become a sty once and since then he pitches in more often. once in a while he'll slack off, but i just repeat the same thing again until he gets the message. stand your ground.

especially with the laundry thing.

Heehee, I saw the title of this thread and thought, 'ooh, is she a TV writer?'

I know it's OT, then, but: ladies, WHAT are we going to do when the writers strike there's no TV on? No 'Heroes'? No 'Greys Anatomy'? No 'Ugly Betty'? I think I'll hit 10,000 posts in no time.
