Just found out that I'm going back to one of my favorite cities - DUBLIN!
I've been invited to give a lecture to the graduate students at Trinity College, Dublin. I leave in a month. It's not the easiest time of the year for me to go, and I really dont have the money, but I figure I couldnt pass up the opportunity.
I'm nervous but really excited.
Just had to share

Re: I'm going to Ireland!
Congratulations. That's where my FH and I are going on our honeymoon. I have a question for you, have you ever driven there? I hear it's a pain but we're staying 40 minutes south of Dublin and want to go all over.

Re: I'm going to Ireland!
Thank you so much for all your good wishes - this board is filled with such nice people!
Jamesbride, I never drove in Ireland. . . but a lot of my friends and family have rented cars and didnt have any trouble - though the roads by the ring of kerry are a bit treacherous (very hilly and curvy). Are you staying in Wicklow? It's so beautiful there.
The trains are really good in Ireland, IMO. They always got me where I needed to go when I lived there. . . but a car will give you more freedom.

Hi! I'm from Dublin and lived there until 5 years ago. My parents have now moved to Wicklow, just a little south of Druid's Glen. When I visit I am always up and down to Dublin to see friends and the roads are great now. They have by-passed all the smaller towns and you can get to the suburbs of Dublin in about 30 mins from Druid's Glen. To get to the city center could take a good bit longer, depending on traffic, which can be a real nightmare. My advice - leave plenty of time when going back to the airport - I nearly missed my flight because of rush-hour traffic! Have a ball - I hope you love it!
ETA: Takeoutcook, if you haven't been to Trinity before, it's amazing. Definitely the best one IMO. But, I don't remember studying much
