1) If you only have one dog, they have the option to be picky becaue they dont have to compete for their food.
2) The food could be stale. (I have to buy the 4 lb bags now because mine wont eat it if it is the tiniest bit stale)
3) Let him be for 3 days. A healthy dog will not starve itself. After that, time for a vet visit!

Re: I'm going to kill my dog
Sandy is really picky. She wont eat one day but the next she will. I just leave it out for her.

Re: I'm going to kill my dog
the thing is I try & get her fresh cans of wet (and the dry I only by her small bags)...
some days she likes it, other days she does this weird nose pushing/bowing dance around the bowl and won't eat.
I'm trying Merrick all-natural foods (she's licked the food before) and if she doesn't like that too bad.
funny you say about only one dog. when I take molly into the office, and my boss brings her dog, she eats RIGHT away!!! so maybe she feels the need to be pressured!!! funny.
Oh and also, those foods that are all-natural are the best for the dog BUT since there are no preservatives, they go stale much faster.

Hershey does this alot ... makes me nuts and so I add some cheese or anything to tempt her!!
I've noticed lately when she does it, she didn't go potty when we put her out & has to go out as soon as she's eaten ... so I guess sometimes she's just backed up!

Re: I'm going to kill my dog
Daisy refused to eat the expensive pet food and it was a major battle. We ran out one night (late). We ran to CVS and all they had was puppy chow... SHE loves it!! I talked to vet and she said that is fine, also she said to try IAMs..... Go figure

Re: I'm going to kill my dog
Larry David is such a pain with this. We have to mix in 1/2 tablespoon of turkey gravy in with his dry food to get him to eat it. And sometimes even that is not enough. I abide by diamondgirlie's rules - he's not going to starve himself so when he's hungry, he'll eat. They say also to only put the food out for 15 minutes and then take it away. They'll know that they have to eat during that time period because it's not always going to be there for them. That's helped us a lot too.
