I'm having second thoughts...

I'm having second thoughts...

I'm beginning not to like my hall. I wasn't crazy about it but my FH fell in love with it, so I went along with it.

Maybe it's the linens, maybe it's the room. It's just not me. It's not what I dreamed about. We couldn't afford the one I really wanted, so I just went along with what he wanted.

Well, what was it that you 'really' wanted? The Watermill is beautiful - the food is great too!

I've heard raves about the Watermill. I would have considered it if not for the distance factor. What is it that you don't feel is, well...'you'?

I would have wanted it at the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling.

I didn't want something that was a wedding factory. I kind of feel that way with this place. I dislike everything but the food. It's beautiful but not what I really wanted. I'm thinking that maybe it's just me.

How about maybe taking pictures at a mansion or something like that?

Or maybe doing something with your centerpieces that are a little different than the norm to make it more 'you'?

If the linens aren't really what you like, you can always rent them. It'll be an added expense, but if you can work it into your budget, you might want to think of that.

Edited because of typos!

These are all great ideas!

I actually have. I am having different kind of centerpieces, something with more branches and candles rather than a ton of floral.

I inquired about linens, it seems kind of ridiculous to spend over a $1000 for chair covers and table cloths. I might do it just to put my mind at ease.

We are taking pictures at the Old Westbury Gardens.

What's funny is I'm coming up with solutions(which keep on adding up) to make the room different rather than to have shelled out the money for the place I wanted.

The Watermill is in Suffolk, right? Isn't there some kind of a loophole re: cancelling a RH in Suffolk? I think there's a small penalty, but I don't know what all the fine print is.

maybe visit it again...and bring others!!! bring your family and BP if you can!

honestly, my FH fell in love with our hall. i had to be convinced. it wasnt something i really envisioned. i like the old, quaint look more that the grand, marble-looking hall like ours is.

but the food is good. we are getting alot for our $. and when we took our parents, they all LOVED it.

so i havent really thought about it much anymore. im just going with it. lol

i am picking out dresses, CPs and everything else...so as long as my FH LOVES the hall. i dont care. i know we will ahve a good time

and the hall isnt a dump (lol), so im sure the guests will love it to

i say the same thing to you with watermill. it has great reviews, im sure everyone will love it. so just go, party, celebrate. dont worry about anything else. just be happy

Re: I'm having second thoughts...

Thank you!

I'll have to look into this because this is something I did not know. We are less than 6 months away though and we already gave them 3500.

We'll see what happens.

I felt the same way about my hall... but after driving past it and stopping in I fell back in love with it.

Just remember, no one remembers what the hall looked like, all they remember is how YOU looked, how FH looked (sometimes lol), how the food was and how the dj/band was.

Maybe I should revisit. We are getting a lot for our money. I don't know how I talked them into how much we are getting for so little. My FH also LOVES the hall. It's about compromise...so I better start!

I feel like I'm being dramatic. I'm sorry, I'm not usually like this. I think because it's getting so close.

definately go again. if, however, you step in and you are really not happy...then start looking at alternatives

Re: I'm having second thoughts...

I'm not in love with mine either but its what we can afford and I've come to terms with that.. Ive decided that I'm going to put more into the decor because its what I want regardless of what hall we went with/ so now that we saved money on the RH, I can put more into that. Sometimes you just have to weigh the pros and cons and figure out in the grand scheme of the wedding, what you want more or whats the most important to you.

Try your best to make it your own to get rid of that factory feel. Put a lot of personal touches on it and I am sure you will prob. love it.
