I'm just SO upset about Cory Lidle... let's all say a prayer for him and his family

Let's just all stop and say a prayer for Cory Lidle and his family. He was married in 1997 and had a 6 year old son. They said he was always so confident about how safe his plane was, which he just got this year, because it had a parachute on the back, so if the engine failed, he could float it down. Obviously, he never thought it would crash into a building in New York City. Who did? Poor guy.

I admit, I barely knew the guy, even though I'm a die hard Yankees fan. He was only on the team for August and September to help the team in the home stretch towards their playoff run. But I love baseball and as someone who used to work with the Yankees, knowing that someone who wore those pinstripes died in this way just immediately tore my heart out. It brings to mind thoughts of Thurman Munson, another Yankee who died in a plane crash. So senseless.

If only the damn Yankees would have WON. Not to sound insensitive, but he wouldn't have been flying if they were still playing baseball.

So, let's say a prayer for Cory Lidle, current member of the New York Yankees - former member of 6 other baseball teams in his career, including the New York Mets. Pray for his wife and son. Pray for his other family members. Pray for his instructor, who also died in the crash and his family. Pray for anyone else affected by this crash.

It's just amazing how this story developed from when we all first heard it... bringing thoughts to mind of 9/11 all the way to hitting home and affecting our New York Yankees.

I totally thought of Thurman too. It just breaks the heart. I hope his wife and child will get through this tough time.

And Sarah , I thought the same thing....IF they had won....

ugh just awful. The poor guy and his poor family...and the poor instructor and his family as well.

I was so shocked to hear about Cory Lidle. I still can't believe it. It brings me back to the time of Thurman Munson. I was pretty young when he died, but I vaguely remember a ceremony that they had when the news broke during a game.

I'm a diehard Mets fan and on the news they kept talking about when he was with the team. I definately don't remember that.

I just wanted to say that he will definately be in my thoughts and prayers along with his loved ones and teammates.

FH called me when i went to work and told me...i almost started to cry..but i didnt because i was at work. If only they won....

it is so sad, fh called to tell me a plane had hit a building and i felt like my heart stopped for a minute,
i do remember him from the mets, i thought of it immediately when i heard his name,
i am praying for his family and the families of the other people that died today, i heard 3 others died,

This is really sad.. What a tradgedy.... I thought of Thurman Munsen too.

I also thought, if the Yanks only won then this wouldn't have happend.

I feel really bad for his wife and son.. How upset they must be....

My heart completely goes out to him and his family. As a news person, I am very upset that his identity went out before the family was notified. I think that we should demand the same respect of holding off people's identies until the family is known. Just because they might be famous does not mean that we should breech the 'contract' of letting the identity NOT be known until next of kin are notified. This just outrages me. May he rest in peace. And may his wife and son be at peace too.
