Donna is telling me that the branch of her Co. in Ohio, TAKING OVER THE JOBS OF PEOPLE WHO JUST GOT LAID OFF, at Donna's branch in Pa., are COMING TOMORROW TO HAVE THE LAID OFF EMPLOYEES TELL THEM HOW TO DO THE JOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What nerve!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, girls, I'm just really filled with righteous indignation at Donna's corporate in another state, buying her Company in Pa., then firing everyone, and giving Pa. jobs to other states!!!! And, asking the fired people to help the newbies understand their new jobs !!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Donna said if the laid off, who haven't yet left, do not cooperate, they could lose their severance. Had to vent!! Thanks!!!! Mary MOB

Something very similar happened at my company. They decided to move most of the department to PA. They laid off the NY'ers and required them to stay on board until they found replacements for the PA office and had them trained by the current employees. If they decided to leave early, they lost out on their severance. It was very difficult position for them to be in because they just wanted to tell the company to screw themselves but couldn't.

Thanks, hon!! It's one of those unfair situations, in which you want to scream at those in charge, but of course, they don't care a flying fig!!! Donna being a Dept. Supervisor, will be in on this tomorrow, to help the newbies understand how they are to interact with her dept. in addition to hearing from customer service. Donna is skeptical, that the newbies will understand everything, because a lot has been dumped on them, and she's concerned that their customers are going to be upset, if mistakes are made!! I think the NY branch has been affected too, but not sure if/how many were laid off there.Mary MOB

Oh, thanks, sweetie; I know everyone is experiencing this stuff!! I guess I understand the 'that's business' part of buying/selling companies. I just wish that corporate folks would stop and think, and 'do unto others as they would have others do unto them', in being as kind about laying people off as possible!! I don't know about you guys, but I think it goes over the line to expect laid off employees to train people who are taking their jobs!!!! Mary MOB
