Im kind of sad-I am def at a Cross Roads in My life
We usually spend NYE with the same group for past 5 years. This year Hubby and I are solo.
My friends have kids now and my single friends are doing the whole club thing which I cant deal with anymore and friends with kids are doing dinner at 5pm which is way to early even for this old fart.
So Im kind of sad, NYE will be totally different than usual.
Anyone else at this point?

Yes, and we have been for quite some time. It seems all of our friends have kids and are even onto their second child and we do not even have kids yet The group that we used to always see has gone of gone their seperate ways. It is sad but I know that it is just a period of change and that we still love them and they will always be apart of our lives even if we don't see them as much.
It is definitely hard, I feel ya!

Wacky Don't be sad about your life changes...they are a wonderful thing! Think of all the lonely, desperate people that will be out there tonight trying to make this 'the party of the year' only to end up disappointed, hungover and even more lonely and desperate tomorrow -> THAT is sad.
You have your hubby and your newly married days ahead of you....ENJOY them to the fullest. You don't need a big crowd to have an amazing time!
Happy New Year and God Bless!

I totally understand how you feel....I suppose I've had moments where life changes have saddened me. But, lately I find life changes AMAZING. Don't ask me why....I can't really explain it....maybe I've settled into my changes for now and I am enjoying them...
Recently, I attended a friend's bridal shower and was dumbfounded by how MANY life changes (weddings, babies, divorces, etc)have happened to all my girlfriends who were also there. The last time we had all been together, we were young, single and lookin' to mingle in the Hamptons, Fire Island, etc. Total party summers, etc...you name it.
Wanna know the first things we all said to each other at this recent gathering?
Did you bring pictures of your kids/wedding?
Sometimes life changes are cool!

Wacky,
Friend holidays (that is what I call NYE since I usually don't spend it with family) brings it out more. We are in the in between years. I feel too old to be in a club, but not completely ready to stay in for NYE. But I love being inbetween: Still young and able to do what I please and old enough to know better and enjoy that it much more.
's to you!

yeah kind of....we are going to my parents for a little while and then to my SILs....not hanging out with our friends bc they will all be with their own families.
Next year I hope to have a party if we are (hopefully!) in a bigger apt.

Life changes happen so many times. When your kids get older and have their own lives, you suddenly find yourself wondering where the time went. I was never a big fan of New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. They just remind me of how fast my life is going by and wishing I could get back some of those years!
At least this year I will be home on New Year's Eve, although not doing anything because DH has to work tomorrow and has to get up at 5AM . Last New Year's Eve and day I spent in the hospital , so I am certainly happier. I can't wait for 2003 to be gone!
I understand completely where you are coming from though. Sometimes you just feel in between!

for the past couple of years, DH and I along with my cousin and her husband went to Mohegan's Sun for NYE. well - they just had a baby 2 weeks ago, so that gameplan no longer works. DH and I are heading to our fav restaurant for dinner and then coming home and spending some quality time together.

Re: Im kind of sad-I am def at a Cross Roads in My life
I would actually love to spend a quiet NYE at home tonight but we are going to my DH's friends house. I am in a pissy mood b/c we have NO water in our house- a pipe burst . Our plumber can't make it here until Sat. the earliest and I feel dirty and discusting. One zone in our house works, but unfortunately it's the part with the bathroom that's half done. We have a toilet and a small sink- no shower..... I can't wait until 2003 leaves us. Hope 2004 brings us better luck!
