So I just got home and got the mail and in it is an envelope hand addressed to me (with my maiden name) and in it is a newspaper article in spanish with a post it in spanish that says 'Jenise, look at this' and signed 'm'
The newspaper article is circled in one area where it advertises a nissan deal for a $99 a month for a lease
Would anyone else be a little freaked out?
I have a nissan so I guess they would have my address but why would i get mailed a newspaper article that has a part circled in pen, and a hand addressed envelope with a post it note to me?? Let alone in spanish???

Was it actually handwritten or just made to look that way? Advertisers have started sending things out with a pre printed posted it (but made to look like handwriting) to make the recipient think that a friend is recommending something to them.
I'd also look to see if it was sent with a regular stamp or if it was a pre-sorted bulk mailing.

no the pen was even smudged a little and how do i know if it was pre sorted? it looks like a regular stamp
and even so- why an article in spanish? im soo confused (im actually hlaf cuban but i dont speak spanish)

My boss used to get stuff like that all the time. Articles ripped out of the newspaper made to look like a friend sent it to you.
Don't be freaked out. Sounds like something similar. it is a sales tactic (a sucky one of course)

Crashing. I've gotten something similar. Hand written and addressed to me. And it said 'I'll make you an offer you can't refuse :)' Really creeped me out!

lol i work for a podiatrist.. and the other day i get a fax ...had written LETTER.. like some1 writting to a friend telling him how AMAZING VIAGRA IS. and how he is having sexytime 24/7.. it was hand written fax...

My DH got a few of those. We just threw them out. I wouldn't worry - it's an advertiser or a schemer trying to get you to call a number, etc - but if you do nothing, nothing will happen

haha. Even though that's most definitely an advertisement scheme, it still IS kinda freaky. Kind of like those stupid comments you can sometimes get on myspace from hackers. I had gotten one from FH's account once, before we'd started dating (we were in that 'hey, i really like you, but I'm not gonna say anything yet' stage). It was something dirty. Like asking me to get on the webcam and... well... you know. haha. I was like, what the hell kinda girl does he think I am?? lol. He was soooo embarrassed, since it obviously wasn't REALLY from him, even tho it looked it. We still make jokes about that.
Those are freaky though, esp when they seem to appear from a friend. I assume that if they do this on something like MySpace, then they'll start doing it thru the mail as well. Very slick.

Aw, don't be freaked out, Jenise. I got one a couple of weeks ago too, only mine wasn't in Spanish. I was a little annoyed...I thought it was a little weird too that it had a handwritten note with my first name on it too. I showed my DH and he said he had seen these before too. I can't stand getting junk mail like that!

Wait, I got the same thing yesterday except with my name on it and it was initialed 'J'. I think that it is an advertisement, kind of like those calls we get about refinancing or loan deals. I wish I could find out where it came from though and file a complaint!

Was it definitely hand writted? Sometimes companies use this font that looks handwritten. I've gotten a few of those for like credit card promos and car deals. Double check the circle, too... i'm pretty sure it's all computerized. If it's definitely hand written, then i'd be worried
