Do you invite the officiant to the wedding??

I did - our officiant is our pastor from our regular church and our families are friends. I think it depends on your relationship with the officiant. If you just hired her/him from 1-800-MARRY-US (LOL) then maybe not. On the other hand, it can't hurt to invite - if he's not comfortable with attending the reception, he can always decline.

I did not but only because the reception was very far from the church and our priest is a lot older and has trouble walking. If the reception was closer I probably would have invited him.

I did for my wedding. I don't think it's required or mandated as wedding etiquette. If you can afford an extra seating then it would be a nice gesture since the officiant officially pronounced both of you as husband and wife so it's only fair that they get treated to food and drinks. It's entirely up to you, if you don't feel comfortable having your officiant hanging around after your ceremony, you are definitely not required to do it. Just thank the officiant with a tip and let them go on their way. Sometimes the officiant may not even be able to hang around esp if they had prior engagements after their work is done.
