I'm mortified about some recent e-mails UPDATED

(I'm changing names to protect the innocent).

Some friends are getting together this weekend. My friend who I'll call Joe used to go out with my friend who I'll call Lisa.

I meant to e-mail my husband, but the email went to Joe instead. It said, 'I just know that Joe is only going b/c Lisa will be there. He hasn't said anything. I just know it.'


Then, I meant to e-mail Joe and instead I ASKED MY OWN HUSBAND, 'who are you going home with on Sat. night? I just got some pictures back and Lisa is in them and you haven't mentioned her in a loooooong time but I assume she is going on Sat.'

My friend is now pissed that I was talking about him and my husband hasn't noticed that I asked him if he wants to go home with Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear I am never talking to anyone by e-mail again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to go hide under a rock.

UPDATE--IT GETS SO MUCH WORSE-- Joe now understands what happened but I emailed him again today, joking about how I messed up. And I sent today's e-mail to Joe's previous job address, an address he told me months ago to delete. And I got a reply saying:

I am not sure if Joe is getting these e-mails. He no longer works for this company. If you have his home e-mail address I would send it there. Unfortunately I don’t have it for you. Sorry!

Ok, why did he get the e-mail that was not intended for him but I keep messing up when I want him to get the e-mail!?!
And now a former co-worker of his got an e-mail where I joked about my husband going home with Joe's ex!!!

It never ends!!

I get so very paranoid about making sure I send the email to the write person. Sometimes I'll check my 'sent mail' folder to be sure. Did you email your friend back and explain?

80% of my job is corresponding with clients by email. This makes me SUPER CAREFUL to check, check and recheck the content and the recipient of any email that I send. I think that the tekkies need to come up with a way to 'recall' a message if it has not been read by the recipient. We have this at my job but it only works internally. Because once you click that 'sent' button - it's gone.

Breathe..this too shall pass.

I hate when this happens. It will blow over.
