I ordered my dress in august....wedding is in may...salon told me dress would be in by the end of feb, but I have a feeling its going to get pushed even further....why do these things take so long?
most of the time the dress shop wont order right away. they dont wanna have a billion dresses in their shop until its time for fittings and stuff so they hold off ordering it till its necessary! dont worry your dress will come in! promise!!

Ugh, that s*cks! I'd call them at least once a week to check the status. Maybe they'll get annoyed and ask the designer to rush it!

I'm getting a custom made dress and I was told that she only begins the work 2 days before the wedding.. so you have NOTHING to worry about :)
Thanks everyone...I'm nearing the 100 day mark and just starting to panic a little bit.
Dont Worry my dress is not in and they told me January...when I called the salon last night they said some time in Febuary....it will all work out.
why do you think the dress will be pushed back? It was explained to me when I bought my dress that the dress designers have a handful of 'cut dates' each year, and they will cut all the orders they have at that time. Dress stores hold back until a cut date closer to your wedding for 2 reasons 1) in case your weight changes, and 2) to avoid storage of the dress (it takes up space and the dress can oxidize). So, for my May 1 wedding, even though I ordered my dress last April, it will be cut in the November cut date, and the store will receive it in February.

I understand the 2nd one but does your dress shop measure you a 2nd time? How would they know if your weight changed?I ask b/c I only got measured once
