I'm New!

Hey all! I'm new to the boards and joined because I am feeling *overwhelmed* with everything that needs to be done! I'm a lawyer and so I work all day and most nights and then there's wedding planning and spending time with FH and everything else! Ack ack!

FH and I met a little under a year ago, but knew right away we were going to get married - I think I told him I loved him after less than a week, which is pretty crazy for me, since I'm normally a real feet-on-the-ground type of person! He's wonderful and fantastic and I can't wait to start my life with him. We're totally old fashioned so don't live together or anything and so I think the marriage is just going to be really awesome.

We've picked our place (Fox Hollow) and our band (Lapis Luna, a really cool NYC based jazz band - AWESOME!) but that's ALL!!!!! I've never even been to Long Island before we went there to visit Fox Hollow - can *anyone* suggest good things for me? Flowers? Photos? Resources? ANYTHING?!

I'm also feeling kind of guilty that I'm not having as much fun as I thought I would - does this happen to anyone else or am I crazy?!

Congrats and Welcome to the boards, don't worry everything will fall into place, I can't really suggest any LI vendors since most of my vendors are not in LI. The only one I am using from LI is Duet and they are photography and Video (I am only using them for photos).

Welcome!! Don’t worry I think feeling overwhelmed and not enjoying every minute of planning is natural! I work a lot of crazy hours too, so I can relate that its not easy trying to cram everything in. You’ll find a lot of helpful brides on here! Good luck with your planning!

Hi, congradulations!!! I have gotten alot of ideas on this site for possible photo shots (that are unique) and for decor. Just start looking in people's albums and you'll get some ideas.

You definatly need to start getting some vendors booked! I see your date is May 2007...

Find a gown!!! And start searching for BM dresses since they should be ordered by November to be safe...

Next step is finding a photographer/videographer. I am using Gray Studios.

Then Florist. I'm using Dalsimer, but another great one is Flowers by Brian.

Then Limos. I'm using Royalty

That's all the major vendors you need to look into, once those are done you can start looking at invitations, favors and accessories...

You'll be back on here CONSTANTLY and you'll have everyone's help!!!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN [even though it gets hectic alot!]

That's hilarious. :) Are you in the evening or afternoon? We're in the afternoon with our cocktail hour in the Winter Garden and reception in the Briar Fox. And I think we're getting married outside, if we can. (cross your fingers for the weather!) How about you?

Hi Welcome to the boards!! Everyone on here is friendly and super helpful..

As far as booking vendors.. Definitely start looking for dresses.. I ordered mine from the Demetrios salon in macy's in Manhasset.. (I worked with Charmaine)

But Lillettes in Baldwin on Merrick Rd was great as well.. (I worked with Pat over there)

Flowers.. I am prejudiced to Pedestals.. My sister used them 9 years ago and Robert (the Director of Design) is a genious.. I hug and kiss him every time I see him!!!!

We just booked 12th Night as photographers.. they have unique packages which suited us, but there are some amazing photographers like Duet, Patkin, ProLine as well..

Hilarious - no worries, we'll be extra-special careful now that I know who's going after us. Although there will be plenty of time - you won't get into the Briar Fox for like 3 hours after we leave, although I can't promise it won't smell like chocolate from our chocolate fountain. ;)
