Hello LIW,

I'm new here and for almost 6 months I've been secretly lurking reading reviews and praying one day I will be able to seek advice from you wonderful ladies for my BIG DAY. Finally I joined because I just got engaged in Jamaica on May 22. 2010. I'm probably one of the babies here I'm only 22, marrying my first boyfriend. The easiest part was saying 'yes' now here's where the hard part begins. Ladies, I NEED HELP. Extremely overwhelmed and need a budget. I live in Brooklyn so my options for a RH could be (Brooklyn, Queens, or Long Island Preferably). We will probably be paying for this wedding ourselves.

I want a wedding with about 150-200 people and I am in awe of the pics of the Chateau Briand anyone has any 2011 quotes for this place or any other places that are affordable because something tells me Chateau is probably not my type of affordable I am looking for places that will charge between 50-75pp.

Problem is I'm into interior and how the places looks inside as well as outside and some of these places pics are far from impressive. Any advice as to where I should start? I plan on having my wedding on a Friday in November to cut the costs a bit. Once again nice to meet you ladies.

Since there is a thread already going about it, have you tried the milleridge inn? I am getting married at the milleridge cottage in october. It is one wedding at a time, and they were very reasonably priced, and the food is amazing!

Welcome and congrats!!! Initially, I was having a winter wedding so I received a quote from Chateau Briand for December on a Friday would be something like $71.

Congratulations!!! Welcome!!!!

The only advice I can give you(because we booked the first place we saw hahaha) is to be open to different days for a wedding....like a friday or a sunday!!!

Chateau is very affordable we are paying 79 for sat night in march. Prices are always lower for friday and sundays and durning the winter good luck and congrats!

I'm not using CB but I have been to affairs there and I can tell you, they were fabulous! I've heard they're really nice and willing to work with you. Definitely look into them. A Friday night will definitely lower the cost per person.

I think you will be able to find something you are looking for at that price. My best friend is getting married at Fox Hollow on a friday in november for $71pp and I know there are tons of other affordable places on the island that are beautiful inside and out.. Good luck with your search

Congratulations!!! And welcome, we love new 2011ers!!! I've been to Chateu Briand before and it is gorgeous! It wasn't on our list of places to look though so I can't help you with quotes, sorry. But if you're looking to save money I would definetly consider doing a Friday night or Sunday afternoon wedding. We're getting married at the Crest Hollow and I think their prices are pretty reasonable so maybe you can check them out, also Jericho Terrace and Westbury Manor are really nice places!! HTH

Welcome and congrats on your engagement!!!! I can't tell you anything about CB but the ladies here are an amazing group and have a wealth of info that will help you.

Two more questions:

1) I haven't even started looked just got engaged (3wks ago so I'm not so bad) I will compile this list here and begin my scavenger hunt). I am only off on wknds do you think that I should call the RH to make appointments to see the halls or did you ladies walk in?

2) Do you think that I would offend anyone by stating on my invites that I do not want any children @ my wedding? I do not want to offend anyone but I only want the children in the wedding @ my wedding also that would cut some of the people down significantly because children would be a bulk of my invites if my guests were to bring their children with them. Let me know what you think?

bear in mind lots f places don't do appointments on weekends bc they have weddings.

and no...you can note that its an adult only affair.

1. YES!!! Definitely make an appointment...they are very busy with appointments on the weekends because just like you...everyone works during the week hahahaha. They will very appreciative of a phone call.

2. We are doing an Adult Only reception also with the exception of immediate family...ie nieces and nephews....We are writing on the invite 'Adult Only reception'

Hello and welcome! I was gonig to book with chateau but went with Floral terrace instead. I'm getting married in May and when I went there I was looking for May or June. For a Friday night I believe it was between 100-120, I can't remember the exact price right now. So maybe during the winter months you may be able to get them to around $70. HTH.
