I'm new...need some suggestions

Hi Everyone....I'm brand new to this site. Just got engaged, and we are planning a March/April 2004 wedding, so I know I have my work cut out for me as I only have about 6 months to do all the planning. My first project to tackle....a reception site! We will only have about 65-75 people, so I'm looking for something small...perhaps a restaurant or something that doesn't require a 100 person minimum. I'm looking for something in Suffolk County....any suggestions?

Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the addiction!

As for restaurants...Danford's in Port Jeff - beautiful scenery, a little rustic on the inside, definetly good for under 100. Smithtown Landing is on the smaller side - not sure of their minimum. West Sayville CC is also on the smaller side - again, I'm not sure of the minimum.

Your best bet - aside from suggestions here - is to call some restaurants and see what they can do for you.

Best of luck! (A friend of mine planned her wedding in 3 months - so it can definetly be done!!)

I acutally live in NJ, but I grew up on LI. It's easier for me to travel than everyone else...so that's why we are doing this on LI. FH family is living in Florida and Albany...so they have to travel anyway...so it didn't really matter if they travel to LI or to NJ. This way, everyone doesn't have to travel.

Thanks for all those suggestions...I will begin making some phone calls.

i can help a little,,,,we are thinking of changing to that amount too. A lot depends on what you want to spend pp. LaGRange INN, West Islip, Molly Mallones I know can to it. 56th Fire Squadrant, Farmingdale I think too. Check out Port jeff Restaurants, 3 Village Inn too.

My vote is 3 village for a smaller wedding. It is a very quaint place. I have been to affairs at lagrange. You could fm for the details of why I would not choose that place.

Sunset harbor is nice but I am not sure if it caters to smaller weddings???

Sunset harbour does do smaller weddings. they have 2 wedding rooms and a shower/rehearsal dinner room.

Congrats & don't worry- you'll get everything done. I'm in 6 mos and I only have the reception, church and my dress done.

I recommend the East Wind- they definately have one building, the Country Gardens, to accomodate the amt of guests you're having. You may even be able to get in at the Estate which is even better.

Let us know how it goes!

You can also try this site:

Reception Halls
That is how I found my hall. You can put in number of guest and price you want to spend and it will bring up halls in your area. Hope that helps!

West Sayville Country Club..on Sundays they are VERY flexible..we are getting married there 9/04 with about 90 people..but they would take 70 no problem..very quaint..old 1909 mansion on a golf course overlooking the great south bay..only 1 wedding at a time...hope this helps!..Congrats and all the best!!
