Im not sure if this belongs here, but was anyone nervous when moving from apt to house?
We're selling our place
my thread on home
and I keep whining (sp?) to myself that I don't want to move! Everyone is congratulates us on the decision to move to a house (we don't have one yet) but its a half hearted answer I give back. I grew up in a house and so did DH, but living in an apt has spoiled me. I REALLY don't think my DH sees all the work, time, effort, EXPENSE that goes into owning a home. All my friends that have bought houses disappeared for the first few years while fixing up. Every weekend, its ALL they do. My DH on the other hand is counting down the minutes until he can move out. We bought our place for 250k two years ago and even though the same apartments are selling at almost 300k, some at 318k, he doesn't even want to ask too much over what we bought b/c he's just ready to move.
I LOVE my commute, its only 20 minutes into the city, the train is SO much quieter than the Ronkonkoma or Babylon branches. Its just a smooth, nice and quiet (and 100 bucks cheaper!) ride. He drives so he doesn't get to benefit off that. I love our building, I love our sun porch, I love living in town and walking to everything. I leave 4 minutes before my train everyday! Its beautiful! My general doctor has an office in my building. I get off the train, go to the apt. to drop off my things and walk down to the Drs office and take the elevator back up. Its so nice.
LOL Can you tell I don't want to leave?
But EVERYDAY my DH is talking about leaving. As soon as he comes home from work its all I hear about. He misses our dog, he wants a pool... he's a suffolk boy at heart.
Am I crazy? I know I have to leave (esp. b.c if he goes for Suffolk sheriff you have to have residency in Suffolk) but did anyone else have apprehension about moving into a home?
