I'm reading Baby Proof by Emily Giffin and it's all about how a married couple splits up after the husband decides he wants to have a baby (this is after they've spoken about not wanting to have a baby). What would you do if you decided on something.... having kids or not and then fh changed his mind?

It's too early for thinking J/K. What book? What are you thinking of?

That's a big question! I guess I'd have to re-evaluate my thoughts and feelings on it and determine if it's really a big deal for me. If it is, I might have to move on.

Welll let's put it this way if the issue was kids... which I want at some point and FH later says no I don't want kids. I would try to convince him otherwise, I would tell him that I wanted kids and that if he didn't then our relationship would need to end. If he still does not want kids than I am out!
He knows my feelings about it, that is life long thing and a make or break issue for me. I want a family. He knows this full well and is clear on this. If he changes his mind on an issue of that magnitude I hate to say it but I would leave him in a heartbeat.... of course I would be balling my eyes out and devastated for years to come... but I have ot do what I know in my heart is right. I would always resent him for holding me back from having my family that I ALWAYS wanted!

If it was another issue I am much more willing to compromise. But that is the one issue that won't fly with me. Especially since I have made him FULLY aware of my stance on the issue ahead of time. He has had 3 years to run for the hills basically.....

To me it's just a crazy thought... like from my perspective I know that I love fh so much but I dont know if that would be enough to keep us together. I can't wait to be a mom and have a family with him... if he weren't into that it would be heartbreaking and I dont know if I could accept it.

I really want children, but honestly, if FH changed his mind I know I would be upset at first, but I would be ok with it. I've got some issues with the idea of being a mother and I told FH last night there was a time when I didn't even want kids, but his desire for one and how I can see he'll be a great dad makes me feel like I could do it, and be good at it too. If it turned out we didn't or couldn't have kids, again I'd be upset at first, but I'd get over it eventually.

hmmm...we're both pretty scared and unsure about kids, so i suppose it's a decision we will come to together. as it stands, we both kind of agree that we're not that jazzed about the sacrifices and change in lifestyle, but in the long term, it's hard to imagine the future without a family.

I just finish reading thatr book and it got me thinking too, (not if I want or not) but the number of kids we want can change (I am only child and FH have 6 siblings)... but I think life is compromise and in the book she gave up too easy, if you love somene you just dont live in the middle of a fight and get a divorce

ohhhh I read that book last year. It's really cute.

Me and FH discussed this and I said this might be a deal breaker.

I just finished reading that book! FH and I actually had a conversation about this topic. We would try to compromise. I know topics such as kids are sensitive but I think open communication is important.

i don't really know. i love him so much, but if he didn't want kids (which is definitly not the case) i don't know if i could leave him. i'd be living without the love of my life, who is irreplaceable. but he really does want children, so fortunatley i don't have to think about this
