Re: I'm really trying to stay calm...

im shocked that not only he wanted to be flown in but also members of parish. I guess somebody was in a need of a vacation.

dont worry becoming a bridezilla we all have to do it from time to time, b/c when ur nice some vendors try to walk all over u. being firm and expecting to be treated with respect is not too much to expect.
and organizing a wedding is one of the most stresful things, I know that I gave up on this being a happy and joyful process long time ago. i feel better. try the same.

hope things will start working out and u will have fun on the most part

It must be sooooo hard being so far from NY planning a wedding! I give you a lot of credit for doing it! I must say that is pretty slick of the priest... he was using your wedding to get a vaca paid for... takes a lot of nerve!!!! I would be so disappointed if my RH was rude, they shouldn't have such an attitude with you!! Maybe you should tell the BM how the staff has been treating you.

It is definitely supposed to be a happy time... Hang in there!!!

Yeap he's a Catholic Priest.. has known my family for a long time too. I have my letter ready to go I was/ still am very disgusted that he would be that rude. He stumbled over his words when I brought it up, even went as far as to say 'ohh of course I understand you couldn't do that'. I plan on discussing it with him further when I meet with him in a week!

Just wondering....if you and your FH were stationed in, say, Idaho...would your priest and his staff have asked to be flown out?

I mean, seriously.

Sorry to hear about your troubles...there are a couple of girls on here who live out of state and are booking NYC/LI weddings. It can be done!

ITA with both comments!!

That´s pretty crazy that your priest would do something like that.

And don´t worry - I´m planning my wedding from Ecuador (south america) and TOTALLY understand what youre going through. I freak out about it constantly!! But just breathe. It can be done - or at least I hope so

If you need any help with anything you can FM me. Although I´m still in the research stage and only have my hall booked, I would still be happy to help with whatever I can.
