I'm sad about my shower

I behaved myself. I never once checked where I know my mom keeps the rsvps to my shower because I didn't want to know when it was. My father slipped a while back and told me where it was. but i still didn't know WHEN it was. Lets face it, we all know we will probably have showers, we just don't know when. I really wanted to be surprised. My mom told me one of my BMs wasn't coming and that made me sad, but i got over it. But again, I did not want to know when it was. So, i called my grandma tonight on my car ride home... i try to do that once every 3 days. She gets on the phone and asks me if I am excited about my shower. So I respond, yes grandma I am excited but I don't know when it is because it is going to be a Surprise. I emphasized that it was a SURPRISE and that I shouldn't know. so she says, oh its on Sunday. Now i am sooooooo sad. I can't even be angry with her because how can i blame an 81 year old??? i am mad that no one reminded her NOT to say anything. I just feel so sad that that moment was taken away from me, and it wasnt like i was trying to find out or anything. so sad. I can't tell anyone because they should think i am surprised (although I called my mom and told her i was sad cause her mother told me... something i feel bad about) i hate faking being surprised. I am just not good at it.

This happenened to me last weekend...my brother slipped and I was so upset...but I got over it...I got my hair and makeup done I had on the outfit I wanted and had an awesome time!

There were still surprises when I got there...trust me you will have an awesome day!

Yeah, see I get nervous about big party atmospheres, now sunday morning I am going to be stressing. I don't know if i can explain it but i didn't want to do those things, i wanted to just have a naturally fun time without the fuss. now I am gonna fuss and worry and going and find an outfit and stuff. i am sure it will still be ok. But for all of you who want to find out or who are curious, you don't want to know, enjoy the suprise

Did the same exact thing...I knew about it and I still said to my FI...OMG I think I am going to be sick But I was fine after I walked in...it was just that walking in that I was worried about

you'll be fine. the surprise will be what people are attending. just enjoy it

Aw, dont be sad, you will still have a great time and enjoy all the people who came to share your special day! Dont blame your grandma, chances are, if she didnt slip, most likely someone else would have.......

I know exactly how you feel. My mom slipped and it was only like a week after they planned it. My bridesmaids are working so hard to surprise so I'm hoping that my mom doesn't tell them I already knew and I can try to act surprised.

Ahhhh...You are right about not being able to be mad at 'Grandma' Sometimes they can't help it. You will probably have other surprises that day though so don't get yourself down. Enjoy your day and now at least you wont show up in Pj's or sweats!!!

Awwwwe, I know. It kind of stinks to find out when it's gonna happen. I'm 90% sure of when my shower is, but only because of little 'clues' that were left around the house. Now, I'm dying to tell someone that I have an idea when it'll be, but I'll feel so bad because they've all tried so hard to keep it a secret.

But think of it this way....You could have fun with this.. You could tell your mom on Friday that you're so excited because you have a really busy day planned for Saturday. You could say that you're spending the whole day getting mani/pedi or a massage & shopping. Ooohh, I'm so bad. I get such a kick out of watching people think of something to talk me out of it!!! But, seriously. At least now you'll know what to wear!!!!

I hear ya b/c someone I work with ruined my shower surprise but I had such an awesome time and in the end it didn't matter at all.

think of all the people who kept the surprise and did all the planning for you... they love you!

aw hunny don't worry about it now, whats done is done and you can't change it. You don't have to act surprized if you feel uncomfortable doing it, just walk in and smile! You'll still ahve a great time no matter what!

aww i'm sorry... maybe she is forgetful and someone did remind her not to say anything but b/c she is elderly it slipped her mind?

that happens with my grandfather a lot...

But my mom and sister told me about my shower the week before (because I wanted to know) and let me tell you, I was still shocked and overwhelmed at the experience! You still will be, it is an amazing feeling.
