i'll give my thoughts w/o spoiling anything. let me preface by saying i'm a big fan. i've read all the books at least 3 times. honestly i was disappointed. i felt they left out too much stuff, stuff that was somewhat critical to the understanding of and flow of events. my husband has never read any of the books at the end he was confused and i had to explain things to him. at the same time they added little things that were totally unnecessary and in some cases just really silly. on a positive note, it was much funnier than the other two and the visuals are very nice. but i think for die-hard fans you will be annoyed at the amount of material chopped out. still, go see it, it's worth it!!

Thanks for the review.

I heard the same thing and wondered how they were able to make the movie relatively short for such a huge book.

I still want to see but I want to go to the IMAX theatre at Lincoln Center - at least it will be a viewing experience even if the movie is a little disappointing.

This is why I think they need to make book 4 into 2 movies. If they couldn't cover everything in book 3, how are they going to cover everything from book 4?

Not surprised they left a lot of things out and I'm also not surprised that they made it funnier. Since it is classified as a children's movie they do have to appeal to them more. I'm seeing it on Sunday and I'll post my thoughts then.
