i'm so annoyed... sorry it's long!
fh bought my e ring in aruba and we had it sized there. well we couldn't pick it back up again until we were on our way to the airport, so we couldn't do anything about it when i tried it on and it was a little big. i said i would just take it to get sized when he actually proposed...
so after he proposed i took it to get sized and the woman said they couldn't do it bc it would mess up the integrity of the diamonds in the band so they would have to size it by putting those sizer balls in it. whatever, it was too big so it had to be done that way.
fast forward to now... i had to get my wedding band custom made bc of the shape of my ering so i went to my moms jeweler by her house in nj and he was great! he's done all my mom's jewelry so i trusted him enough to give him my ering to take with him to look for settings that may work. my sister picked up my ering, a few molds, and a few actual bands (he's very trusting too i guess, haha). i picked one that fit perfectly and asked him to have that one made for me. he said no problem. so when he asked what size my ering was i told him that it was a 6 but with the sizer balls it's a 4.5, and he was like 'whyyyyy do you have sizer balls.' after i told him that they said they couldn't do it he said that's not true they just have to make sure all the diamonds are still set snuggly into the band so if i wanted him to take out the balls to bring my ering to him and he would have them do it. i couldn't go back to nj for a while and during those few weeks i couldn't go, he called and said my band was ready![]()
so i went to pick it up 2 weeks ago and he wasn't there - his wife was. the band was gorgeous... but i tried it on and it was wayyyyyyy too big![]()
so i told her that it wasn't right and asked her what size it was and she said 6.75!!!!!!!!! so i said well that's not the size i told him so she kept the band and i also gave her my ering to give to him to size as well. this time i watched her right down the size to make sure she wrote it correctly... she wrote 4.5.
so my mom picked up my rings for me and brought them both to me at my bparty on saturday, and when i put it on i thought it felt big but maybe it was just bc it felt different without the balls. so i was sitting at work on tuesday and the thing is like almost falling off my finger so i emailed my mom and said this isn't right!!! we thought he couldn't have not cheked the sizing a second time, so i said well maybe it's just bc i haven't been able to eat/keep anything down in two days so maybe i lost weight in my finger![]()
i still wasn't convinced tho so i took it to the jeweler by the train station on my way home and asked him what size it was.... 5.25. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! second time. wrong size. again. bullshitt.
so i called his shop yesterday and he wasn't there but i'm totally calling back tomorrow to tell him. it's bs. he had my ering for a total of 2 weeks and had the band made and then resized so why is it still wrong???? i just don't get how 1. the band was custom made so why wasn't it made the correct size in the first place??? and 2. how could he not check that they were the right size before calling and saying they were ready AGAIN?????
it's too late to take them back to him ... i would have to give them to my mom at my fitting on saturday which means he wouldn't get them until tuesday, then they wouldn't be ready until thursday and my mom is coming to ny for the week before the wedding the next monday so i would have to trust that they were the right size 4 days before my wedding??? i don't think so!
i'm going to have to take them to the guy by the train station... he seems pretty good i'm just so mad i have to be without them AGAIN![]()
