I'm so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! House Vent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to vent girls. I haven't really been around in awhile because I've been working my behind off. All because we are supposed to close on our house shortly.

The closing date has been February 19th for the past 6 weeks. We made it that day because I have off that week. FH took off the week after so that we could do everything we need to in the house. So, last Friday night, we get a call that they want to change the closing date. They give us a list of dates that we can't close because either they are after our rate lock expires or during the week of the State Math exam (I'm a 3rd grade teacher).

So, we tell them we need to finalize a date. As it is, we already paid the first 2 months insurance. We also called LIPA and the oil company to start on the 19th. As well as hired someone to refinish our wood floors the week after.

I called the lawyer's and realtor's offices all day today and they said the owner would not answer the phone or reply to messages. The owners are going through a divorce and are bringing their problems into our closing. They want to have both their real estate attorneys and both of their divorce attorneys present at the closing. They refuse to close and put the money in escrow and deal with this on their own. I don't know why I have to change my entire life around for them. Why can't we just close and they can deal with this on their own???

I am so sorry this is happening. Can you call the owners directly and work something out?

No they won't respond to anyone. Their divorce is apparently messy. They are both living in the house still and not on speaking terms. It's really making me nervous.

I am so sorry you are going through this The couple I bought my house from was divorced so I totally understand... they put off my closing twice (after I had already scheduled furniture delivery, new carpet installation and the floor refinishing) . The wife made buying the house absolute hell for me. Divorces really bring out the absolute worst in people

I hope you hear from the owners soon.. just keep on your attorney to keep harassing them!

Ugh that is soo frustrating!!..I am so sorry!..I work at a title insurance company and i see this happen all the time...but dont worry they cant ignore you for ever...it will all work out..I am sure you will hve your set date!

i called my attorney 5 times a day... thinking he would keep on them. he didn't... he just kept telling me that he would let me know when he heard back from them. I had to have my mortgage broker call their attorneys to find out what was actually going on.

It's frustrating but like Joejo said they can't ignore you forever... this will all be over with soon enough

I am sooo sorry you are going through this! We actually lost out on a house because the couple that was selling was getting divorced. The husband decided to move back into the house they were selling.
I know it is stressful...maybe the realtor will have some luck talking to them by tomorrow and everything will work out.

Hang in there. The house is worth it because you are buying it. Just think of the outcome once you sign the papers.

Keep baggering your attorney or better yet go to your real estate broker. They make more commision.

Awwwww!!! I'm soo sorry!! You can try to call the homeowners yourself (or one of them considering their divorce)...That really bites the big one...People SUCK sometimes...It definitely does get crazy when you are close to the closing date, Hang In There!! The 'day' will come!! We had to deal with a similar situation with the closing date - It didn't change how awesome it was our first night in our house though - So Don't Fret!!! It will still be awesome!!!

I def. feel your pain. We went though a similar issue. We closed last month. Since our house was a foreclosure and we were buying it from the bank we had to deal with the bank and not acutal sellers. The bank took their sweet time with EVERYTHING and changed our closing date too. Like you I had scheduled our electric, heat, cable, and water for the day we were first scheduled to close. And worse I had scheduled the electric and cable in the apartment to shut off on that day too. I had to call all the companies and explain to them my situation. The cable company didnt care and we had to live in the apartment with no tv for a while. Hang in there....its well worth it. In a few weeks youll be homeowners and loving your new place.

Sorry that this is happening to you. Closings are usually pushed back and frustrating and when you bring in a divorce it just makes it that much worse.

Thanks girls! This is just so annoying. Everything was fine and now with a week to go things are changing! Hopefully we get an official date in the next few days. I really didn't want to take off work for this. I need my days for interviews and some other things. Now FH has to try to change his vacation too.

Looks like it's closer to the end of February now which throws everything off!!! Hope things change.
