So yesterday I am at my brothers house and his daughters (12 and 14), who are bridesmaids just got home from sleepaway camp. I thought it would be fun if we looked at the Bill Levkoff website so they could see some of the dresses they get to choose from. The adults in the BP already picked their dresses (different 2 piece sets in the same fabric) and my neices have an appointment next month to choose their dresses and get measured. Everyone will order at the same time.
So the 12 year old says to me: 'Aunt Leslie, I don't think we should wear anything strapless because we don't want to be picking up our dresses all night and it may not be appropriate for young girls. It also may be better for us to wear a one piece dress because you have to have a really nice body (she meant curvy and mature) to have it look good. And does it have to be long? It may be too long for us.'
So this 12 year old gets me thinking. YES they are Jr BM ages but we are calling them regular BMs so they can feel all grown up. She was right. I really had no intention of letting them wear strapless unless they begged, kicked and screamed. But they could still wear a dress a little shorter than the other ladies. They are still girls and not women. Leave it to a 12 year old to have a sense of reason. I love this kid!
