I'm so upset - Update AGAIN!

After having gone through a miscarriage right before this pregnancy, I was so anxious up until recently, when I passed the 20 week mark, foolishly thinking all will be good now. But, today I went for our 20 week ultrasound and just got a call from the ob/gyn that the report shows a small cyst on the brain (choroid cyst?). Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know anything about it?

Update - I have an appointment for a level 2 ultrasound and to meet with the Perinatologist next Thursday. Please keep Baby Beer in your thoughts!

So, I called my ob/gyn today to ask for the rest of the ultrasound results, to see if there were any other anomalies that would indicate Trisomy. So, he puts me on hold, pulls up the report from the system, and gets on the phone with me. He tells me, nope, everything looked GREAT., and considering my triple screen test results came back normal, he thinks there's a very minimal risk. And then he's like, oh and the report even says that the radiologist isn't even sure if it's a cyst, and that it might just be a normal brain fold. Gee, you think that may have been helpful when they called me yesterday???

I am sorry that I don't have any advice to give you - but I do want to send you some prayers and hugs...I hope it all works out.

What did the dr. say about it?

Dr. said that it's somewhat common to find a cyst around the 20-week mark and that more often than not, it goes away by the third trimester. She said because it's so small that I really shouldn't worry, but that they still want to send me to a perinatologist to make sure... she was very reassuring, but I'm still a mess

There is someone else who had a similar situation on this board...Im not quite sure who though... all in all things ended up being ok, and when she went back the cyst was gone...

Everything will be ok!

I was going to tell you the exact same thing. I want to say I think it was Sassy. I'm not sure. But, I know they say it's common and that it should go away. I know how hard it will be for you until your next visit! Do your best to stay positive! Baby Beer girl will be fine and healthy!!!

I can understand how you feel not because I have been through it but because I am anxious about my ultrasound next week. I will be 22 weeks. No one understands why I worry and this is why, because you never know.

I know that what I have read about these cysts is that they go away and a lot of times they notice them now a days because the technology is so much better than it used to be but really 9 times out of 10 they turn out to be nothing.

I will be praying for you and your little one. Try not to worry too much.

This is actually pretty common...those cysts are in many babies but without an u/s you might not see it. They are almost always nothing and disappear on their own.
My friend had this exact situation and they wanted to do the amnio. She said No and in a few weeks the cysts were gone

I read this and got all emotional for you! Then after reading on and seeing that it is fairly common it made it a little better. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you.
