I'm Sorry, but can you try and explain the logic here?
A guest told FMIL that her father cannot attend my wedding because he's in rehab and will not be out until August 8 (note: wedding is August 6). FMIL says he MAY be out early, and even though this guy's daughter says to count her father as out, FMIL tells me to make a placecard for him. She says she thinks he'll come.
Please....can someone explain this logic to me? Am I missing something?????

Um. No. I mean, I am sure she knows these people and maybe he will able to come, but they don't think so, and if he is getting out of any type of rehab I doubt he will feel like going to a wedding on his first night out!!
And who is paying for this person who isn't going?

If his daughter flat out told FMIL no, he can't come than I wouldn't expect him to be there!

I wouldn't include him in the final count, but make a placecard just in case so FMIL won't be upset.
