My fiance and I talked last night and figured out that we may NOT be able to afford Jericho Terrace along with all the other vendors. Mind you, JT has been booked and 3 deposits have been made already :( We're afraid, we're not gonna have money to buy a house, rent or do anything after the wedding and be totally strapped! I'm beside myself today. I'm looking into other smaller catering halls now, and trying to figure out how to just have a private party room and cut costs. Any suggestions on nice places?

I'm so sorry to hear that. You do have a lot of time before the wedding, and that means plenty of time to save. Another idea is to take out a loan for the wedding. Then, when its all said and done, you have one payment (to a bank or whatever) and you can also go about buying a house or whatever.
Good luck!

Re: I'm super sad : (
have u considered changing the time of the wedding to perhaps fall/ winter or day wedding?? this may bring down the cost by alot as well.

That's what I was going to say! And I saw a lot of JT pics in the winter months (my best friend was booked there) and the pics are AMAZING... so sorry to hear that though and I will start looking around for you to get some good info. Also, there's a 'how much is your venue' thread on the BHB board, I'll ask someone to bump it!

Its not easy to pay for a house and a wedding at once. We are cutting a lot of costs and plan to have wedding paid off before we get married. At that point, anything we get is found money and can start saving. But there are halls like Hildoe said that offer complete packages- I think arian and mediterranean manor do. Also wedding center in commack has full vendor packages that may be affordable to you. Consider changing time of year/day for your wedding and maybe a lot more DIY projects. Maybe a hall like knights of columbus will work for you
I'm sorry that you're so frustrated- its very upsetting!! But you do have options that may help!!

Re: I'm super sad : (
I would definitely look into changing the time of year. I've been getting really good prices for March. Also; the watermill gave me a good price for the fourth of july of next year so I'm sure it'd be around the same for 2013. Go to JT and tell them the situation, they may be able to work with you as well as far as pricing or maybe throwing some things in, like centerpieces etc. Most places seem to be willing to work. The Swan Club in Glenwood Landing had decent prices as well and they are gorgeous! Weigh your options before just cancelling with JT because you'll probably loose your deposit!

Re: I'm super sad : (
if your dead set on changing your venue, ther is one in Queens called Villa Russo it is owned by Russo's on the Bay but their prices are not Russo's prices. I think a Sat with all the trimmings,l ast i checked was only $75pp I don't know what JT quoted you but it is a beautiful RH to have a wedding and don't forget that you talking about a wedding 2 years from now, so you should be ok. Don't try to tackle everything at once, everything kind of falls into place little by little.

So sorry to hear that. Like the other ladies have said you still have plently of time. Def keep checking other venues. I'm not sure what price JT gave you but there are lots of places.. its just a matter of doing your research. I'm not sure what day your wedding is but if its a Sat consider changing it to a Fri or Sun. After viewing about 10 places so far we found that the prices have a huge difference if you switch it 1 day to a Sunday. I know Sat is ideal.. but you'd prob save atleast $20 or more p/p by switching your day. My orginal date was 10/5/13 but we will now most likely change it to the 6th. Was a struggle at 1st to make this decision bcuz I really wanted the 5th but the money saved could def go towards other things for you wedding such as photo/video. One place to check if you haven't already is Coral House. Very good prices and its a really pretty venue, by a lake. Its #1 on my list right now. Going to check a few more places b4 making a final decision.
PS. I saw someone mention Ariana Wateralls. They do have complete wedding pckgs for GREAT prices but I wouldn't suggest you waste your time. The place needed lots of work and the location was terrbile. It was right btwn a ihop and wendys. An example wedding video they showed us u could see the ihop in the bg.. def bad! lol

Re: I'm super sad : (
my fiances and i went to the bridal show case at JT last night and we were swarming when we got home. There are tons of ways to save at JT and they will totally work wtih you. I am doing the last weekend in April and a Sunday to get costs down, you just have to talk to them. someone mentioned to me doing a thursday night wedding, people will have to take off friday from work, or look into an afternoon. also see if you cut a few menu choices if they will cut price. So far it seems like distincitve florals across from Jt has reasonable prices and they do not charge you a fee to rent the centerpiece bottoms they just loan them to you, and after last night the DJ that was lowest was body and soul... (i could be wrong on the name) but i also know that ******* in suffolk will match almost any price. dont give up, set up an appt w them and see what they are willing to do... if your stuck on a date then just decide what is more importatnt JT or the date, or maybe downsizing the guest list and taking a smaller room... FH wants to look at other venues too bc of the price, but we will just make small cuts... see if you can do just one limo or do you have friends who have old cars, maybe doing a few of those cars, try going to a car show see if you can hire a few guys for 2 hrs, 100 bucks to each and you could have a really cool substitute for limos...
i know that the coral house in baldwin is low in price and includes color choice on table clothes etc and centerpieces, also the riverview in massapequa i think does the same thing.
sorry for rambling, and not proofreading. lol i am wicked tired...
