Although I put money in my savings account for the wedding, and that is big wads, I also put some extra money aside every day if I can in a shoe box for all of the little expenses that will pop up at the last minute, and I managed to put 200 bucks in there this month alone I have a few hundred in there and I have not been doing it for that long. I get antsy every few weeks to know how much is in there, so I open it and count it. What a great way to save a little extra. If you don't do it, you should! I just keep it in my closet so JT doesn't touch it, out of sight, out of mind

Re: I'm very proud of myself.....
Rachel, that is a great idea. Can I make a suggestion. Put that money in a safe with a lock and key. Just to be on the safe side. I lost money when I saved that way. So I went to walmart and bought a safe.
But then again I am a klutz sometimes....lol

Well, I don't know how I would lose it with it sitting in on my closet shelf, but I will definitely consider that.

Here's another idea...put all of your coin change in a large jar (we used an empty water cooler bottle). Do NOT use your change - instead of making purchases with the exact change, always pay with bills. We used to do this all year long and then use the money we saved for our anniversary or a vacation. The last year we did this, we wound up with over $500 just in change! It really does add up.

I do the same thing, I put at least $20 aside every week in an envelope for some wedding expenses. I plan to use some of it for honeymoon shopping.

my aunt and uncle did this once - but they had a rule: NO PENNIES. just quarters, nickles, and dimes... would you believe, after they emptied it all out, counted and wrapped everything, they had a little over $3,400 in there!!!!! I was in SHOCK! Needless to say, we've started our own 'no pennies' piggy bank.!!!

Re: I'm very proud of myself.....
you ladies are too good. i get paid 2x/mo and put the check right in the bank, and right to bills. unfortunately, i hardly have cash on myself. I wish I got paid in cash so I could hide it from myself, or I wish I could cut up my credit card and ATM card, but I need them for safety (which turns into the occasional pair of shoes, i have zero self control driving past love my shoes, my steering wheel just wount let me drive past without going in!!its really bad!

We also do this!!! I thought it was a waste at first, but after only a few months of doing it, we managed to save close to 100 bucks! And the idea about throwing the scratch offs in there is pretty good, too!!
