I'm very upset and I just need to vent.
My grandparents live in Florida and are 90. They are not doing so great and have been giving my father a hard time about coming to see them. He tries to go down there once a month, but he's a professor and can't really take off too many days from work since the class will fall behind. My father has tried to talk my grandparents into selling their house and moving into an assisted living apartment, but my grandmother is dead set against it. My grandfather has dementia and is very weak. He has arthritis in his spine and his vision is bad.....YET, he still drives AND he drinks like a bottle of whisky a day. My father went to Florida to try to get power of attorney, but there is nothing mentally wrong with my grandmother, so they would not give it to him.
So anyway, now my grandmother is with holding things from my father....like the fact that my grandfather went out the other day and passed out in the store, but she didn't bother to take him to the emergency room. My dad only found out because my good for nothing uncle told him. They make my father's life a living hell. They call him and tell him how everything is awful...their health, their lives, etc...but when he jumps on a plane to rush there, they tell him everything is fine and they don't need help. My father is so upset over this and my mother and I are enraged at my grandmother for making my father feel guilty. He only has their best interests at heart and my grandmother is maliscious towards him and spiteful because he suggested they live in assisted living. I don't know. I'm just really upset over all this. MY grandparents are making my poor father sick![]()
