*** Important enough to have its own thread ***

Whoa, I'm seeing you ladies in a whole new light. And I LIKE IT.![]()
I'm a message board addict so I know when it comes to joining a new board, there are a few things that help you ease into a community:
1. Spend some time reading the board and get an idea of the 'atmosphere'. Don't immediately post a thread although it's tempting.
2. Before posting your question, use the search feature. I found answers to my first few questions just by looking.
3. Participate in other people's threads. Don't just change the subject or make it about you. If you want other people to take time to read and respond to your threads, return the favor first.
4. Bumping is frowned upon in other places I've posted but certainly not here. Do a search for 'bump' and you'll see tons of threads. It all depends on how many threads show on the first page and how active a board is.
5. If you DO have a disagreement with someone, your best option is to talk about it like adults in private forum mail and work it out. You wind up shooting yourself in the foot if you bring it public, or refuse to compromise on making peace (by blocking someone). Your screen name is now synonymous with whining and blocking FM. It makes it almost impossible to continue posting under the same screen name.
In your case, you need to consider all these things and if the questions you're asking are too general to be answered quickly. We're all planning weddings and may not have a lot of time. So one or two sentence replies aren't neccessarily a sign of disinterest but instead a must for women who don't have a lot of time on their hands.
You should also consider that the people on this board are the greatest resource to Long Island brides that I have ever seen on the web. It is too valuable a resource to throw away easily.
All that said, I have never felt snubbed by anyone here and I've had a few threads that went unanswered. I thought about my questions and they were things I could find out myself by picking up the phone and calling my banquet manager. And if they weren't things I could answer myself, I'll just bump or ask again at a busier time of day.
Everyone here has been so much more helpful and generous that I ever thought I had a right to expect. You ladies are da bomb.![]()
