I am not comfortable with dancing with my father since he and I are not very close. So, instead we decided that we would, after our first dance as husband and wife, have our parents join in our second dance...
The question is, I am stumped about a song. My wedding seems to be beyond different and the dj is asking for specifics lol...
So, would you consider john mayers 'Fathers and daughters' to be a good 'First dance as family' song?
If not, do you have any other ideas?
Thank you girlies

Re: Important Question about family dance song...
Song option 1:
I know a girl She puts the color inside of my world She's just like a maze Where all of the walls all continually change And I've done all I can To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands Now I'm starting to see Maybe it's got nothing to do with me
Fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters too
Oh, you see that skin? It's the same she's been standing in Since the day she saw him walking away Now she's left Cleaning up the mess he made
Fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters too
Boys, you can break You'll find out how much they can take Boys will be strong And boys soldier on But boys would be gone without warmth from A woman's good, good heart
On behalf of every man Looking out for every girl You are the god and the weight of her world
So fathers be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too So mothers be good to your daughters, too

Moon River:
VERY instrumental, which is good, and then everyone can join in...
Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day. Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your way. Two drifters off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. We're after the same rainbow's end-- waiting 'round the bend, my huckleberry friend, Moon River and me.

Re: Important Question about family dance song...
I like the John Mayer song better, because it references both fathers AND mothers. Pick which one feels right to you

Re: Important Question about family dance song...
I am not doing a father daughter dance either for the same reason as you ( he is actually my stepdad who is now divorced from my mom ....complicated ) but FH is still dancing with his mom..
I like fathers and daughters cause it references both father and mother..
Are you having your dad walk you down the aisle?

Re: Important Question about family dance song...
I like John Mayer, thats song would work well for the situation you're describing. My parents have been divorced for a long time and I still havent decided if I'm going to have a father-daughter dance. If i can find a song that is short and sweet and not to sentimental, I'll consider it. My father will be attending the wedding but we're not close anymore. So I can understand your situation.

I'm still thinking about it. lol. Ofcourse some family members are saying I should have him walk me down the aisle, bc blah blah blah.... And other family members say why bother just have my mom walk me down the aisle. I really dont care what they say though, lol I think I MAY have both walk me down, my mother doesnt care either way, BUT I would like her to walk me down also.
