Impression of Jericho Terrace

What are your impressions of Jericho Terrace?
I don't mean in terms of looks or food, but of the people/how they do business.

For some reason, I am not sure how I feel about the banquet manager who was showing us around.

Maybe its because I'm a quiet reserved guy, but I felt like the BM was trying to SELL us too hard.

So I did some web searches on JT and there were a few complaints about the place.
Some people felt they were misled, or that some shady things went on.
Of course I know...every place will have 1 or 2 bad reviews.

Both my fiance and I are laid back, so we don't want to get 'bullied' during the wedding prep and the wedding day.

I remember I had some questions/concerns while we were looking at the place, and the BM just kind of brushed it aside - 'Don't worry, I've been doing this for a long time, its not a concern'
and the BM just moved on, instead of fully listening to the concerns and discussing it.

Of course, I don't want to mention the BM's name.

But what are your thoughts on the place and people? (its cool if you mention names, we might have had the same BM, lol)

Thank you

I love JT, have no reservations about having booked there, and have yet to hear a negative thing about them. If it's important for you to have a reception in a 'one wedding at a time' place then JT isn't your place

But I feel by booking JT I have peace of mind that things will go smooth. I think by saying that 'they've been doing this for a long time' your BM was trying to reassure you that you have nothing to worry about and they will make sure that everything goes smoothly...

Good luck with whatever decision you make...

We also had a good experience when we booked. We were impressed that they freely showed us around, even though we had not made an appointment. We even walked through the kitchen. My FH is a foodie, so he was impressed at how clean and organized everything was.

We primarily book because my parents went to a wedding there and raved about the food and service. I felt the BM was friendly. We are both talkers, so I think he fed off of that.

I agree that you should do what feels like for you. Good luck! I hope this helped.

I had the most amazing experience with JT. Our BM, Maitre'd, waitstaff, bridal attendants- EVERYONE was amazing!! I can't say enough wonderful things about JT. Nothing went wrong. They really went above and beyond. The food was excellent and the service was top notch.

I am sooooo excited to have my reception there!! There are actually 2 guys my FH works with who had their weddings there and they loved their experience. So far things with them have been great. I find them to be very thorough when handling business. I literally had no questions or doubts after I signed with them.

Go with your gut though! Like you said you will always find people who didn't like this or that. I have learned that! Every search on every single vendor I do I always find some bad reviews. You just have to trust your gut

I have not one ounce of regret about booking with Jericho Terrace. In fact, I am SO excited about it.

Many 2010 brides had their reception there and they had nothing but great things to say about it.

Maybe you could request a different BM? We booked with Vinny and he was great.

We booked with Rob. I didn't feel misled, I didn't feel any of my concerns were brushed aside. Honestly, they made us feel like family. The entire planning process was smooth, I was never 'bullied'. They do have a certain way that they do things that works for them, but if you don't want to do it that way, no problem! Like our candy buffet- they only wanted it to be wheeled out after the cake but that didn't work for us. Our MD, Jose, came up with a solution that worked for everyone.

ETA: And after initially booking, I never saw Rob again. We directed all questions to Linda or to Francesca at Dazzling Affairs- the complimentary wedding planner you get when you book JT.

Regardless of where you book you need to feel you've somehow connected with the place and the people who will be running the most important day of your life. For me it takes one great or negative experience to make or break me. I lucked out with my first venue and my experiences thus far have all been consistent and I've even been able to negotiate some upgrades. I feel like my smaller wedding is just as important as their black tie Saturday night and they've never treated me any different. If you aren't 100% sure, take a few days to think about it. Good luck!

Re: Impression of Jericho Terrace

when it came to deciding on a venue, we took into consideration how comfortable i felt dealing with the people (i say, 'i' because my fiance - although he was aware of some of the 'attitudes' of some of the people - is not one to get bullied around business-wise and it really wasn't an issue for him). but knowing that i needed to like the person, we decided we would book only at a place where i liked the person.

i will say, that one of those places where the BM was arrogant, obnoxious, and derailed the answers to two pretty important questions, is a place where many brides from here get married, and a place that gets a lot of good reviews. so with that said, i do believe that you can have an amazing wedding even if the BM may turn you off. i suppose you have to consider just how important it is that you like the BM (and from a previous post you wrote, and how picky you said your fiance is, i think it may be a challenge to find everything you're looking for. so if this is the *only* thing you find fault with, it may be worthwhile for you to still keep it as an option).
