In a bit of a pickle - wondering what you would in this situation.

In a bit of a pickle - wondering what you would in this situation.

My FH is allergic to alot of scents. He cant wear scented deoderant - and I cant wear really any scents except VS lovespell. When we started dating and I would wear different perfumes and body sparys, he would either get hives or swell up. His friends and family know what they can and can not wear around him.

But my Bms dont know that. Is it ok if in their gift I give them a small bottle of lovespell and ask that they wear it? Its the only scent I know that he can handle. It was from just being around me that he was like this - its been like that since he was little - very sensitive.

I dont want to offend them or anyone - but hes my first priority and well all be spending time together in a limo, and taking pictures, and i just worry u kno? esp if someone wears something really strong...

Im waiting on a call back from his doc. The nurse said it sounded good but his doc is calling usback

Thoughts? I dont want to be unreasonable

I think if you give it to them as part of their gift for the wedding, i think it is completely acceptable for to ask them to wear the scent at your wedding. If I was a bm i would completely understand. I would honestly be nervous to wear anything else!

Your friends should TOTALLY understand. The last thing you need is the groom swelling up with hives on his wedding day!!! If i was in your BP, I wouldn't even wear a perfume for fear that I may affect him!

Don't even worry, what you're proposing is not irrational! It's being smart on your wedding day!

Thanks for looking at it that way - I remember once it was really bad and now moving intogether i have to be careful of the soap and shampoos and things I buy, and when its like that - on the wedding day I dont wnt to take any chances, esp with all of the older aunts wearing the standard issue old aunt scent

Definitely not an outlandish request - it's a health issue! But I definitely wouldn't wait until the day of - they may already spritz themselves before they meet up with you. I would even take it one step further and supply them each with a 'stick' of heavy duty unscented deodorant.

hey sweety -

i honestly think that what you are doing is so thoughtful!

You invited your BP to be in your wedding & they accepted because they love you & your FH. NO ONE would want to harm him on his wedding day & if you simply explain why you are giving the gift - they will be 100% fine!

I do have a concern about the guests though - he'll be getting hugged & kiss by Great Aunt Martha & Uncle Tony all night....what happens then?

Is there anything preventative you can do for that????

I think that's fine. If you bought them jewelry, they'd wear that, so why not perfume? I think its a lovely gift.

My DH has allergies too. Not trying to freak you out but have you guys put a lot of thought into what flowers you are going to have at the reception? We couldn't have any lilies, roses, etc b/c they make his eyes red & swollen.

Maybe when the doc calls back - he can suggest something that he can do. Maybe it'll be to get some form of an allergy shot the day before or the morning of - something like that! It could be as simple as him taking a benadryl... no panicing - you have time to figure this out!

Yes we did - we met with the florist and then we had to go into another room and we introduced things to him - and it was quick - i went with the first things - just no boutineers - pocketsquares for the Gms.

I wouldn't be upset by that request at all. I do think you should plan on something in case a guest's perfume would start to bother him. It will be interesting to see what the doctor says

Only because I've noticed that if I'm exceptionally hot or sweaty it activates something. next thing I know someone is complementing me on my perfume and I'm like 'but I'm not wearing any perf...oooooh!'

i agree if you give it to them as a part of their gift.. i dont see a problem with it.. and i would maybe write a short and sweet little note in there and explain the reasoning.. im sure they wont mind! i wouldnt!
