In desperate need of cat help...

In desperate need of cat help...

My baby Gizmo (the one in my picture) threw up a worm this morning. FH found it, woke me up to have me see what it looks like and it was moving on the floor. He told he found 2 spots of vomit in the bathroom, and then he actually saw Gizmo throw up.

I feed them wet food and have them all eat off one giant plate. The worm looked stringy and almost like the strands of cheese I saw in the cat's food, which makes me wonder if the worm was in the food already, the other 3 cats seem fine right now, But Gizmo seems to be moping.

I am afraid to even think about taking him to a vet today because they do charge a lot for a sunday visit. What should I do? TIA.

Crashing cat lover over here...I would buy a de-wormer at the pet store and start giving it to your kitty today. Then take him to the vet asap tomorrow. Also I would google what to do about your other 3 kitties. He might need to be separated from them (not sure) or at least eat and drink from separate bowls in another room to be on the safe side. Good luck...I k now how it feels, I have 2 kitties and I worry about them all the time!!

Take him to the vet right away. He will need to be de-wormed. Don't delay because untreated worms can make the cat very ill. He can also infect any other cats you might have. You could also call the vet's office and ask if you can start him on an over the counter de-wormer before he comes into the office.

Take him to the vet ASAP! And let the vet know that the other cats might have been exposed.

ITA And I don't know anything about buying your own dewormer. If you don't know what kind of worms your cat has, it may not work, and it may also have contraindications with the dewormer that your vet prescribes.

I would never buy de-wormer in petco or anything. The only one that works is Flagyl/Metronidozole and its by Rx only. Take him to the vet today (most places have payment plans and are quite helpful with money). But untreated worms can not only mess with the GI system but the huge fear with works is that they get in the bloodstream and attack the heart. Since Gizmo is moopy i would get him to the vet NOW.
I would have ALL you cats checked (maybe not today, but bring them to the vet tomorrow, asap), and stop feeding them all out of the same bowl. Also, check the labels on the cat food and look online for recalls....i personally would switch brands.

Good luck, i'm a HUGE cat person and my heart bleeds for you. Your in my prayers

Re: In desperate need of cat help...

i have two cats myself i would separate gizmo and make him an soot for first thing tomorrow. It should be as easy as the vet giving deworming pills on of my cats was a rescue and had that problem
