In desperate need of RH suggestions...

Hi Ladies!

My name is Lisa and I'm planning a wedding for April 2011. After lurking around this community for a few weeks, I've finally decided I need the advice of my fellow LI brides and brides-to-be.

When we first started the planning process, my finace, my mother and I were all in agreement about the feeling we wanted for the event: urban, minimal, chic. Unfortunately we learned very quickly that NYC venues were well beyond our budget and the style we were hoping for is in short supply on Long Island. (For reference, before we knew anything about prices, we fell in love with The Lighthouse at Pier 60)

We have visited the following venues, all of which were lovely, but for one reason or another each of us found reasons we didn't think they would work.

The Rennaisance of Astoria
Douglaston Manor
The Metropolitain
The Swan Club
Waterview Club
The Manhattan Ballroom
Temple Avodah
Temple Chaverim
Jericho Terrace
Terrace on the Park
NY Hall of Science

At this point, we've all accepted that we're not going to get everything we want, so if anyone has suggestions for RHs in NYC, Outer Boroughs or on LI that meet any aspect of our theme (urban, minimal, chic, romantic) for $100/per person or less that can accomodate 200 guests, I would love to hear them!

Thanks in advance! This community is absolutely wonderful!

Try Chateau Caterers, I think its the same as Chateau Briand. From the pictures, it seems to be what you're looking for. HTH!!

Sorry you are having a tough time Here are a few you can try..

Larkfield Manor
Westbury Manor
East Wind Caterers
Giorgios
Verdis of Westbury
Crest Hollow Country Club
Thatched Cottage
Timberpoint Country Club

A lot of the prices depend on the day of the week and time you are looking for.

If I think of anymore I will let you know

Check out the Allegra Hotel in Long Beach. It is exactly what you are looking for. Maybe not the price. I went to a wedding there recently and it was stunning. The only downfall was the restroom was downstairs so if it is on a Sat. night your guests will have to go thru the louge area and bar to use the restrooms. It is right on the boardwalk. It has a real Southbeach look to it. Good Luck

One more for Chateau Briand. You might like it. It has that art deco look, and they have an outdoor lounge that is really nice.

Chateau Briand is a good choice for what you are looking for

How many people are you having? Russo's just opened Vetro for smaller parties it holds 110 or 120 I think.

Re: In desperate need of RH suggestions...

Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I feel much better just knowing there are other venues out there that I didn't know about. I was feeling like I had looked into every option out there and I'm encouraged to know that there's still hope for finding the right place!

I'm especially interested in checking out Chateau Briand now! I've driven past it a million times, but I never knew what it looked like on the inside, and it really does seem to fit our theme!

Thanks again for the help ladies!

I LOVE the Foundry, but unfortunately they can only accomodate 120 with dancing :(

Thanks for the suggestion though! It would be exactly what we're looking for if it were just a bit bigger.
