In Laws

When is it appropriate to begin calling your inlaws mom and dad or have your FI call your parents mom and dad?

I'm not crossing any boundaries on that one.....they have to tell me before I switch the names!

I call his Parents mom and dad already.

The step parents I don't though..........just call them by their names.

i call them mom and dad too-- i think it just needs to happen when YOU feel it's right.

I call them by their first names. I already have 2 sets of parents (my biological and my MOH parents who are like a second set) I dont think I'll be changing anytime soon.

I actually don't call them anything. I guess once they tell me to I will start calling them mom and dad...it is going to be so weird.

HA! me neither....I called them Mr. and Mrs. for a while, but they have never asked me to call them anything else- FH says they won't care if I use their first names, but I feel funny doing it w/out their permission- but still calling them Mr. and Mrs. is weird- so I don't call them anything, lol!

That's too funny. I don't call my FIL's anything either. I don't know what I am going to call them. They are pretty traditional so I guess they will want me to call them mom and dad after the wedding.

i don't call them anything. i was never comfortable with their names and i really have no idea what there names are. they are asian and go be a bunch of names. If they say something, i would consisder calling them something, maybe after i have kids.

ugh...I have been wrestling with this for some time. I am never going to call them mom and dad because I am just not comfortable with that. But, I don't know what to call them, so I just don;t call them anything! I guess FMIL noticed it and e-mailed me to say that we need to talk about it next time I am on LI.
I was a bit embarassed!!

i call fh mom, mom and he calls my parents... i dont think he really calls them anything

I've been calling my FMIL either mom or Joann since I was 15years old. I have the best FMIL. We all go out to karoake, partys, vacations-both families get along perfectly.

ditto on all of this!!! haha I don't call them anything either... I just start talking haha. I used to call them Mr. & Mrs... and now its kind of weird that we are engaged to be so formal... but I feel weird saying their first names.. although I have done it once or twice only because i had to. I really don't see myself calling them mom & dad...so who knows who they will be

My FMIL anf FFIL asked me to call them mom and dad already! My FH calls my parents mom and dad also!

FFIL already told me to call him dad (but i don't) because he knew i was struggling with what to write on cards and the like...i still don't call FMIL anything..

my previous relationship i had no problems calling them mom and dad and the relationship turned out horribly so now i'm afraid to call them mom and dad...i'm so weird

I already call FH parents mom and pop but FH calls my parents by their names ...his parents live next door and we see them all the time, we see my parents once and a while so I am more comfortable.

I am the same way, so is FH with my parents.
