In regards to Invites...

In regards to Invites...

I'm trying to think of what I'll need. I'm going to be practicing with other stationary first but I want to make samples up of everything first to make sure I even like my own work.

Pocketfold
Main Invitation
Outer Envelope
RSVP Card w/Envelope to mail back
Directions Card

*Do I write the reception info on the main invitation or do I have to do a seperate Reception card?

*Do I need an 'accomodations card' if I only have maybe 6 people coming in from out of state?

Re: In regards to Invites...

i like it this way:

big invitation with the church info

then the smaller 'Reception to follow at . . .'

As for accomodations - i would include them. I have basically NO OOTs ( besides Italy lol) BUT surprisingly a lot of people have mentioned that they want to stay close by the night of the wedding so they dont have to worry about drinking. . . so throw it in there for everyone!

That's a really good point, I didn't even think of it for people close by. I do have a lot of family in the Bronx and some in Monroe so that would be good!

I know FH and I have about 6 weddings after our own in 2008 - so we decided since we will be poor and cant go on vacation - we are going to stay overnight after most of the weddings even though they are only in LI and we are in Queens and just make a mini vacation out of it - esp since we will be living with my parents, it will be nice to get away!

it's old fashioned from when you could invite SOME people to the church and others to the reception. . .but i am very traditional so thats why i like it lol

Oh wow I didn't know that was the reasoning behind it. I couldn't imagine being excited thinking that I'm invited to someone's wedding and then opening the invite and then like oooh man I'm just invited to the church

Re: In regards to Invites...

IM not doing a reception card being that my ceremony and reception are at the same place..IM just going to put on the bottom of the main invitation 'reception immediately following ceremony'

to save some more money

i have never seen the church and reception info on the same invite? how would that work?

unless like stated above - they are both at the same place which would definitely make sense

I actually don't know how I'd do it either way....on the main invite or one 2 seperate cards

if you go to invitationsbydawn.com
you can pretend you are ordering them and fill in everything - see how they do it!

Re: In regards to Invites...

a lot of the time the reception card is done seperately as a matter of spacing

once you sit down to try and write everything on an invitation you realize that your working with limited space.

Unfortunately sometimes people who didn't want them to begin with end up having to get them because they run out of space on the invitation itself, especially if the cermony and reception are at different locations...

i only know cause I worked in an invitation place for about 3-4 years lol
